Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We invite your submissions to this Special Issue of Energies, “Design, Control and Optimization of Power Converters”.

Nowadays, power converters are essential components of modern energy systems across a wide variety of applications, such as renewable energy, grid connection, energy storage and transportation. Their importance relies on their efficient control of electrical power, with key goals including high reliability, high efficiency, high power density and fast transient response. Advanced converter design and control techniques are required to meet these often-conflicting requirements across energy applications.

Industrial requirements are pushing researchers towards new solutions, using wide-bandgap devices to enhance overall performances. Modelling, layout and critical aspects are still to be addressed, and advanced design criteria and control techniques are required to meet such conflicting requirements.

This Special Issue will focus on recent developments and ongoing research in the field of power controller modelling, design, advanced control and performance optimization, providing insights into current trends, challenges and opportunities for future innovation.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Switching power converters;
  • Wide-bandgap device-based power converters;
  • Innovative power converter topologies;
  • Power converter design;
  • Advanced modelling, analysis and control strategies for power converters;
  • Performance optimization;
  • Power converters for renewable energy sources;
  • Condition monitoring, fault detection and prognosis;
  • Artificial intelligence-aided modelling, design and control of power converters.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
