Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Motion planning and control in mechatronic systems are fundamentally implemented using electric drives. Modelling is an important step in controller design procedure. However, system models may include simplifications, are exposed to external disturbances and may have varying parameters during operation. High-frequency unmodeled dynamics may also be visited in a real-time mechatronic system. Therefore, a controller needs to demonstrate robustness in the presence of such uncertainties. The robustness within a controller may be guaranteed by compensating for parameter variations or adding a high-gain controller to supress all uncertainties within the system. Robust-control approaches designed using either of the two approaches are capable of controlling electric motors and actuators including induction motors, brushless DC motors and servo systems embedded within mechatronic systems to provide the motion required to perform industrial tasks. Optimizing energy consumption, maintaining sustainability and increasing the performance of the control system is therefore required to provide high-performance tracking while minimizing energy consumption.
Motivated by the ever-increasing demand for energy-efficient high-performance electrical drives, this Special Issue of Energies will publish original research papers devoted to techniques, methods, applications and industrial-use cases reporting state of the art modelling approaches and robust-control approaches for electric drives and mechatronic systems. Applications of mechatronic systems to maximize the efficiency of energy carriers and minimize end-user energy consumption are highly appreciated. Energy generation and conversion systems are especially welcome for inclusion in this Special Issue. This Special Issue is intended to provide a platform for presenting advanced methodologies and cutting-edge techniques in the modelling and robust control of electric drives and mechatronic systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
