Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advancement of electrified transportation has created increasing demands for intelligent battery systems, efficient energy management, and reliable vehicle operation. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology for addressing these challenges by enabling accurate battery state estimation, predictive health management, intelligent energy optimization, and adaptive decision-making under complex operating conditions. Recent advances in machine learning, data-driven modeling, and intelligent control have accelerated the development of next-generation battery technologies and electrified transportation systems.
This Special Issue aims to provide an international forum for researchers and practitioners to present the latest advances in artificial intelligence for battery systems and electrified transportation. The Special Issue welcomes innovative methodologies, practical applications, and interdisciplinary research that integrates AI with battery technologies, energy systems, and intelligent transportation.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: battery management systems (BMS); battery state estimation (SOC, SOH, SOP, SOE, and RUL); battery fault diagnosis, health monitoring, and predictive maintenance; battery thermal management; charging optimization; battery digital twins; cloud-based battery systems; artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and federated learning for battery and energy systems; data-driven modeling, optimization, and intelligent control; battery cybersecurity and resilient battery systems; intelligent energy management for electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell vehicles; vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies; smart charging; energy storage integration; connected and automated vehicles; intelligent transportation systems; and AI-enabled mobility.
The Special Issue welcomes original research articles, review papers, and case studies that contribute to the development of intelligent battery systems, efficient energy management, and sustainable electrified transportation, providing innovative solutions for future energy and mobility systems. Although this Special Issue covers interdisciplinary research, the core focus of all submissions must remain within the field of energy.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
