Dear Colleagues,
The global transition toward carbon neutrality and sustainable development has significantly accelerated the demand for clean and renewable energy technologies. Hydrogen energy has emerged as one of the most promising energy carriers due to its high energy density, versatility, and potential to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors such as transportation, industry, and power generation. In addition, hydrogen offers opportunities for large-scale energy storage, grid stabilization, and integration with renewable energy systems. Advances in innovative materials and processing technologies play a crucial role in improving hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization, thereby enhancing the efficiency, safety, and economic viability of hydrogen-based energy systems.
Advanced materials and innovative processes play a pivotal role in enabling the hydrogen economy and circular energy systems. Recent developments in catalysts, functional nanomaterials, membranes, fuel cells, electrolyzers, hydrogen storage materials, and resource recovery technologies have created new opportunities for efficient energy conversion, storage, and utilization. Furthermore, the integration of waste-to-energy technologies, material recycling, carbon utilization, and renewable hydrogen production is essential for building sustainable and resilient energy infrastructures.
This Special Issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research and technological advancements that address the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of hydrogen energy, and advanced materials. Contributions from academia, industry, and research institutions are encouraged to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and accelerate the development of sustainable energy solutions.

- Electrocatalysts and photocatalysts for water splitting and hydrogen generation;

The Special Issue welcomes original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that advance scientific understanding and technological innovation in hydrogen energy. Interdisciplinary studies bridging materials science, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, energy systems, and sustainability science are particularly encouraged.
