Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the art in smart devices and wearable sensors. It also looks forward to exploring future prospects, aiming to bridge the gap between the latest technological advancements and their potential applications in various fields.

The scope encompasses a wide range of areas related to smart devices and wearable sensors. It includes not only the technological aspects such as sensor design, miniaturization, and power management, but also their integration into different systems. Additionally, it delves into the applications of these devices in healthcare, fitness, environmental monitoring, and even in consumer electronics.

This Special Issue will focus on (but is not limited to) the following topics:

  • In-depth analysis of the latest sensor technologies, like new materials used in sensors for improved sensitivity and accuracy, for example, the development of flexible and stretchable sensors for better wearability.
  • Wearable sensors in healthcare. This includes continuous health monitoring such as heart rate, blood pressure, and glucose levels. It also looks at how data from these sensors can be used for early disease detection and personalized medicine.
  • The role of smart devices and wearable sensors in fitness and sports. Topics may include real-time performance tracking, feedback mechanisms for athletes, and the impact on sports training programs.
  • Integration of wearable sensors with other smart devices such as smartphones and smartwatches, how they communicate, share data, and enhance user experience through seamless connectivity.
  • Environmental monitoring using wearable sensors, for instance, detecting air quality or exposure to harmful substances in real time, which is becoming increasingly important for personal and public health.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
