Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Coral reefs dominate coastal zones in tropical latitudes, yet they are experiencing devastating upheaval from climate change and other localised stressors. Managers at all levels are seeking guidance and confidence in the economic priorities of conservation initiatives. However, for many marine systems, the science is venturing into uncharted territory, where unexpected surprises are emerging and old models need to be updated.

Modelling in this novel ecosystem environment requires advanced consideration of scale, dynamics, and adaptability. In particular, managers are focused on achieving lasting results and enhancing resilience. Modelling the complexity of trophic scales and high biodiversity in systems that are already stressed is critical but often lacks confidence. Fortunately, many modelling approaches are incorporating sophisticated statistics and careful consideration of precision and predictability. This Special Issue of Diversity welcomes articles that explore these important issues.

We invite contributions from a broad range of perspectives; whether you are developing novel statistical frameworks, applying existing models to under-studied reef systems, or exploring the interface between ecological modelling and decision-making, both cutting-edge methodologies and rigorous case studies are welcome. Our goal is to bridge the gap between modelling innovation and on-the-ground management and to foster a community of practice around coral reef resilience.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Diversity is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
