Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Accurate diagnosis and reliable prognostic assessment are cornerstones of effective management in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. Advances in diagnostic imaging, molecular biomarkers, and artificial intelligence-assisted technologies have significantly improved our ability to detect disease earlier, refine prognostic models, and guide personalized treatment strategies. However, the translation of these advances into routine clinical practice remains a challenge, and robust evidence is still needed to define their impact on patient outcomes.
Recent progress in genomics, immunohistochemistry, radiomics, and digital pathology has opened new avenues for understanding tumor biology and predicting clinical behavior in head and neck and otorhinolaryngologic diseases. Nevertheless, the integration of such tools into multidisciplinary workflows requires validation, cost-effectiveness assessment, and consideration of local infrastructure and expertise. Bridging the gap between innovation and implementation is essential to ensure that diagnostic and prognostic advances translate into tangible benefits for patients.
This Special Issue, “Diagnosis and Prognosis in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery,” aims to gather high-quality research and comprehensive reviews exploring novel diagnostic methods, prognostic biomarkers, imaging techniques, and predictive models that can improve clinical decision-making and patient care. We particularly welcome studies that combine clinical, pathological, and molecular perspectives or evaluate the real-world application and prognostic impact of diagnostic technologies.
We look forward to your valuable contributions to advance the field of precision diagnosis and prognostication in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
