Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: Diagnostic Applications and Safety Evaluation
This special issue belongs to the section “Medical Imaging and Theranostics“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gastrointestinal endoscopy plays a key role in the diagnostic workup of digestive tract diseases. With the evolution of endoscopic technologies and imaging systems, diagnostic accuracy has drastically improved, enabling earlier detection and more refined characterization of gastrointestinal pathology. This progress has led to better patient outcomes and more personalized therapeutic approaches.
This Special Issue is dedicated to the exploration of diagnostic applications and safety evaluations in gastrointestinal endoscopy. We invite submissions that investigate innovative diagnostic techniques, risk stratification tools, safety protocols, and performance metrics related to endoscopic procedures. Studies focused on procedure-related complications, quality assurance, and strategies to enhance patient safety are strongly encouraged.
Topics of interest include evaluation of diagnostic accuracy and effectiveness of emerging endoscopic technologies, risk assessment models and preventive approaches for endoscopy-related adverse events, safety outcomes of endoscopic procedures across diverse patient populations, comparative studies on sedation protocols and infection control measures, integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning in diagnostic decision-making, and endoscopic surveillance strategies and their clinical impact.
Authors are welcome to submit original research articles, clinical outcome studies, review articles, case series, narrative reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Manuscripts should be clear and methodologically robust and provide relevant insights into both clinical practice and future research directions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
