Recent Advanced in Wood Coatings and Protection

Dear Colleagues,

Wood material is used everywhere in our lives, in construction materials, furniture, cabinets, flooring, and landscaping products. Over the years, protection strategies and coatings have been used to maintain the performance and aesthetic appearance of wood products. Various research groups around the world in industry and academia are working to improve wood performance through technological development.

This Special Issue aims to gather the latest advances in coating and protection of wood material. New coating formulations, new additives, functional coatings, film mechanics, film physics, wood surface preparation, wood and fibre plasma coatings, sol-gel fibre modifications are topics that can be discussed in this Special Issue. Work on protection is also welcome, on topics such as modification treatment, wood products design for durability, degradation characterization, and performance modelling and fungi dissemination.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
