Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Porous materials are a class of functional materials characterized by pore structures that span from the nanoscale to the millimeter scale, endowing them with distinctive physical and chemical properties. In combination with various coating preparation techniques, porous materials can be used to obtain various functional, protective, or decorative coatings that have excellent properties. The intrinsic value of a porous material is rooted in its structural function-integrated design, which is achieved through the modulation of its porosity, pore size distribution, and surface chemistry. These materials are able to efficiently address critical demands for energy conservation, environmental protection, and multifunctionality, and they also have industrial applications in other fields. With advancements in nanotechnology, computational materials science, and green manufacturing, porous materials are poised to play an increasingly pivotal role in promoting industrial transformation and achieving sustainable development.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute your academic achievements to this Special Issue. This Special Issue is dedicated to the latest advancements in porous materials across various domains, including, but not limited to, the fabrication and characteristics of porous coatings, theoretical and computational modeling of porous coatings, processes for coating deposition and modification, functional or protective porous coatings, energy storage and conversion, catalysis and fuel processing, adsorption and filtration, carbon dioxide capture, separation technology, lightweight and high-strength materials, drug delivery systems, biological tissue engineering, thermal and sound insulation, smart responsive materials, microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing, and 3D printing and customized fabrication. We also welcome submissions on the novel achievements and practical applications of porous materials in other relevant fields.

It is our pleasure to invite you to submit a manuscript to this Special Issue, whether it be a full paper, review, or short communication.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
