Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce the Coatings Special Issue titled "Wood Protection through Innovative Coatings and Films", and to invite you to submit your valuable contributions.

This Special Issue focuses on exploring new technologies and advances in coatings and treatments for wood protection. It covers topics such as the coating of new wooden and wood-based materials, innovative processes, and methods for enhancing the durability of wood through coating, as well as novel approaches to improving the performance of wood-based products. Additionally, it examines the environmental impacts of wood protection by surface treatment, and the potential for more sustainable coated wood-based products.

In particular, topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Types of novel wood protection coating treatments;
  2. Surface treatment of new wood-based materials;
  3. Enhance the durability of wood with innovative coating treatments;
  4. Improving properties of surface-treated wood;
  5. Maintenance of wood protection treatments;
  6. Application techniques for wood protection treatments;
  7. Latest developments in wood protection treatments;
  8. Durability of protective coatings and treatments;
  9. Environmental impacts/LCA of wood protection.

This Special Issue is aimed at presenting the latest developments in this field, through both original research papers and review articles.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
