Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chestfeeding is associated with a number of positive health outcomes for parents and children and may prevent the development of chronic health conditions in both. Although it represents a key strategy to enhance public health, many are unable to chestfeed in accordance with contemporary guidelines. This may be due to insufficient support (family, social, health care, work), physical or mental health difficulties, or sociocultural factors such as stigma or misinformation. However, technological advances and novel community-based efforts may assist in supporting chestfeeding. This may include telehealth services, chestfeeding apps, AI-powered lactation support, smart breast pumps, biofeedback and latching technology, and mobile pumping rooms. More research is needed to determine the efficacy and effectiveness of these relatively novel resources. Therefore, for this Special Issue, we invite reviews and original articles exploring these or other innovative approaches to supporting chestfeeding, in addition to studies examining novel parental or child outcomes in relation to chestfeeding behavior.
