Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gynecologic oncology has undergone a profound transformation over the past decade, driven by advances in surgical technology, precision medicine, and multidisciplinary care. Among these innovations, robotic surgery has emerged as a pivotal tool, reshaping the surgical management of gynecologic malignancies by enhancing surgical precision, reducing perioperative morbidity, and expanding the boundaries of minimally invasive approaches.
This Special Issue, Gynecology Oncology and Robotic Surgery, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current and emerging concepts at the intersection of oncologic gynecology and robotic-assisted surgery. Particular attention is devoted to how technological innovation is influencing clinical decision-making across the entire care pathway—from preoperative risk stratification and surgical planning to intraoperative execution and postoperative outcomes. The description of possible integrations of artificial intelligence and the application of diagnostic tools as an increasingly standardized future prospect is encouraged.
Robotic platforms have demonstrated increasing applicability in the management of endometrial, cervical, and selected ovarian cancers, offering potential advantages in complex procedures such as lymph node assessment, radical hysterectomy, and fertility-sparing surgery. New platforms are also emerging with increasing and still in-progress knowledge about their feasibility in this field. Indeed, the integration of robotic surgery into oncologic practice also raises important questions regarding patient selection, oncologic safety, learning curves, cost-effectiveness, and long-term outcomes. Addressing these issues requires high-quality clinical evidence and thoughtful methodological approaches.
Beyond surgical technique, this Special Issue welcomes contributions exploring the integration of robotic surgery with advances in diagnostics, including imaging, molecular profiling, and serum biomarkers, as well as the role of artificial intelligence, enhanced recovery protocols, and training paradigms. Original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, and perspective papers are encouraged, particularly those that critically assess both the opportunities and limitations of robotic surgery in gynecologic oncology.
By bringing together multidisciplinary perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to provide clinicians, researchers, and surgeons with an updated and balanced view of how robotic technology is shaping the future of gynecologic oncology, with the ultimate goal of improving patient-centered outcomes and evidence-based surgical care.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
