Dear Colleagues,
Climate change has already had substantial impacts on cities and the construction sector, such as frequent extreme weather events, increased pressure on energy systems, and reduced urban resilience. Incorporating climate adaptation of green and low-carbon technologies into life cycle assessments can help us to evaluate the environmental costs and benefits of different adaptation strategies throughout the entire life cycle from a long-term perspective, thereby supporting urban planning, architectural design, climate investment and financing, and policy-making. At the same time, it provides scientific basis for urban renewal, low-carbon technology evaluation, green building material selection, energy system optimization, etc., to achieve a balance between urban low-carbon development and climate resilience and promote the transformation of the built environment in line with the Paris Agreement and the SDGs. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate climate change response strategies, low-carbon technologies, and LCA models across scales and disciplines and propose scientific paths for urban green, low-carbon, and resilient transformation from different perspectives. This Special Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
- Urban Built Environment Assessment;
- Smart Building Energy System;
- Urban Design and Climate Adaptation Strategies;
- Green Building Materials and Technology Life Cycle Assessment.
This Special Issue presents contributions towards the climate adaptive built environment in the city and green transition for the future.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
