Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Coastal structures are becoming increasingly important due to the growing need for resilience and sustainable development in densely populated coastal regions. These structures play a critical role in protecting coastal communities, supporting buildings and critical built environments, and mitigating the impacts of natural hazards and climate change. However, coastal structures are exposed to highly complex environmental hazards, including earthquakes, wind, waves, currents, storm surges, flooding, and their coupled effects. The compound interactions among these loadings can significantly influence structural integrity, reliability, durability, and vibration performance.

To ensure the long-term safety and serviceability of coastal structures, advanced research and innovative solutions are urgently needed. This Special Issue seeks to gather the latest advances in the structural performance, reliability, resilience, and vibration control of coastal structures under complex environmental loadings. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, numerical modeling, experimental studies, field measurements, structural assessment, multi-hazard analysis, structural health monitoring, building resilience, vibration control, and resilient design methodologies for coastal buildings and structures.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
