Dear Colleagues,
Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technology has evolved far beyond its origins as a simple label-free interaction analyzer. Today, it stands at the intersection of multiple transformative fields—including high-sensitivity bio-detection, high-resolution bio-imaging, and intelligent applications via artificial intelligence (AI). This Special Issue aims to capture the latest breakthroughs in these domains and beyond, showcasing how interdisciplinary approaches are redefining the capabilities of biosensing platforms.
We invite cutting-edge research that advances the analytical and diagnostic power of SPR-based biosensors. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced Bio-Detection: Novel SPR assays and sensor designs for the rapid and sensitive detection of disease biomarkers, pathogens, and therapeutic targets in complex biological matrices.
- Innovations in Bio-Imaging: Progress in SPR imaging (SPRi) and near-field optical imaging techniques that enable high-throughput analysis and nanoscale visualization of molecular interactions for biosensing applications.
- AI-Driven Applications: The integration of machine learning and deep learning algorithms for intelligent image processing, pattern recognition, kinetic analysis, and predictive diagnostics in next-generation biosensing.
- Emerging Interdisciplinary Applications: Exploration of SPR biosensors in emerging fields such as drug discovery, environmental monitoring, food safety, cellular analysis, and personalized medicine, demonstrating the versatility of SPR-based biosensing beyond traditional diagnostic settings.
By uniting advancements in bio-detection, bio-imaging, and artificial intelligence within a unified biosensing framework, this Special Issue aims to highlight how SPR technology is evolving into a more powerful and versatile tool for biological analysis. We believe that the contributions gathered here will inspire further innovation at the intersection of SPR technology and biosensing, ultimately accelerating the development of next-generation platforms for precision medicine, point-of-care testing, and fundamental biological research.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
