Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The p53 family of transcription factors, which includes p53, p63, and p73, plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability, regulating cell cycle progression, and coordinating cellular responses to stress. These proteins are not only central to tumor suppression but also influence a broad spectrum of biological processes, such as development, differentiation, and metabolism. Dysregulation of the p53 family is a hallmark of cancer, with TP53 mutations being the most common genetic alterations in human malignancies. Beyond cancer, emerging evidence highlights their involvement in aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and immune regulation, underscoring their multifaceted roles in health and disease.

This Special Issue aims to explore the latest advancements in understanding the molecular mechanisms, regulatory networks, and therapeutic potential of the p53 family. We invite original research articles and reviews that investigate the structural and functional diversity of these proteins, their interactions with other signaling pathways, their regulation by microRNAs, and their implications in cancer and other diseases. Contributions focusing on innovative therapeutic strategies, such as the targeted reactivation of p53 family members or the exploitation of their isoforms, are also highly encouraged.

We look forward to receiving your contributions, which will help to elucidate the complex roles of the p53 family and pave the way for novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Biomolecules is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
