Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Since the birth of lithium (Li)-based batteries that are operated with liquid electrolytes, the electrode–electrolyte interface has become a critical issue for batteries and, in recent years, to efforts to increase the operating voltages. Electrode–electrolyte interfacial behavior has also received more and more interest for its relevance to next-generation batteries (such as, aluminum (Al), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), sodium (Na) or proton (H) batteries). Therefore, the electrode–electrolyte interface during electrochemical reaction must be characterized and understood to guide the design of advanced batteries. Researchers are warmly invited to publish their original research papers or review papers in this Special Issue.

  • Mg battery with interfacial engineering;
  • Al battery with interfacial engineering;
  • The development of solid-electrolyte-based (polymer- or ceramic-electrolyte) Li+-ion batteries;
  • The interfacial chemical/electrochemical reactions in batteries;
  • The structural/compositional evolution during the electrochemical reaction;
  • Thermodynamic/kinetic behaviors at the electrode–electrolyte interface;
  • Development of more sustainable battery materials;
  • Understanding and manipulating the electrode–electrolyte interfaces in batteries;

Batteries is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
