Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to systematically reveal the intrinsic connections between sedimentary records, paleontological evolution, and tectonic evolution across the Asian continent from an integrative multidisciplinary perspective. As one of the most complex and dynamic regions in global geological history, Asia’s stratigraphic sequences preserve key information ranging from early life evolution to modern plate tectonic activities.
This Special Issue will focus on the following core themes: (1) High-resolution Stratigraphic Frameworks: Establishing precise temporal constraints to resolve debates on key events (e.g., Triassic continental amalgamation, Paleo-Asian Ocean closure, and Neo-Tethys Ocean opening and closure). (2) Revisiting Fossil Records: Reinterpreting significant paleontological data (e.g., radiolarians, flora) to refine biogeographic and tectonic models. (3) Sedimentary Basin Dynamics: Investigating mechanisms of basin formation, sediment provenance (e.g., via contour currents and detrital zircon analysis), and their links to mantle–crust interactions. (4) Tectonic Controls on Biodiversity: Exploring how tectonic events (e.g., subduction, collision) shaped sedimentary environments and evolutionary trajectories.
We welcome original research, reviews, and methodological contributions from fields such as stratigraphy, paleontology, sedimentology, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics to advance a holistic understanding of Asia’s geological history. Case studies integrating novel techniques (e.g., magnetostratigraphy, big data geochronology) are particularly encouraged.
By bridging disciplinary boundaries, this Special Issue aims to catalyze breakthroughs in reconstructing Asia’s geodynamic evolution and its global implications.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
