Young Investigator Award

Dear Colleagues, 

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Antioxidants 2020 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk. 

Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Ergonomics at Medical University of Bialystok, Poland. The main subject of Dr. Maciejczyk’s research investigating the mechanisms responsible for secretory dysfunction of salivary glands and searching for new non-invasive biomarkers of the most common metabolic, inflammatory, and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Maciejczyk has demonstrated that salivary gland dysfunction in patients with chronic kidney disease, dementia, acute pancreatitis, insulin resistance, and obesity is associated with disturbed redox homeostasis, at the same time indicating the diagnostic usefulness of selected oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of the disease progression. Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk received his Ph.D. in 2019 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 90 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and one international patent application. He is a rising star in the field of salivary oxidative stress. Mateusz Maciejczyk’s Scopus Scientific Citations number 618 and his Hirsch index is 15. This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk for his outstanding achievements. 

As the awardee, Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk will receive an honorarium of 2000 CHF and a certificate.
