Dear Colleagues,
The increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) demands urgent attention, particularly in critical care settings where the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics is widespread. This Special Issue will focus on Antimicrobial Stewardship in Critical Care, aiming to highlight the development and implementation of strategies that optimize antimicrobial use to reduce resistance, improve patient outcomes, and minimize adverse effects.
Critical care environments, including ICUs, are high-risk areas for the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. With patients often presenting severe infections and sepsis, there is a fine balance between timely antimicrobial therapy and the prevention of resistance. We invite submissions addressing various aspects of antimicrobial stewardship including, but not limited to, the following: the role of rapid diagnostics in guiding therapy, multidisciplinary approaches in stewardship programs, and the impact of stewardship interventions on clinical outcomes.
This Special Issue also encourages original research on novel antimicrobial agents, strategies to de-escalate antibiotic use, and studies exploring the integration of stewardship into critical care workflows. By focusing on stewardship in this high-stakes environment, we aim to foster innovation and share best practices that contribute to the global fight against AMR in critical care settings.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Antibiotics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
