Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Canine mammary tumours (CMTs) are still the most often diagnosed tumors in female dogs and are still the cause of death of many animals. There is a significant need for developments in veterinary medicine that will lead to the prolonging of dogs’ lives, and the search for new oncotherapies is particularly crucial. Aside from the fact that patients’ owners have higher expectations about therapy and care for their pets, CMTs are a good model for breast cancer, because of many common clinical and epidemiological similarities, e.g.: the same etiology and course of the disease; similar risk factors and prognostic factors; and the heterogeneity of tumors as well as their spontaneous character. There are also numerous similarities and common features at the molecular level, e.g.: similar transcryptomic profile; overexpression of steroid receptors; epidermal growth factor-proliferation markers; and the presence of cyclooxygenase and metalloproteinases. In recent years, many innovations in veterinary oncology have been proposed, and the aim of this Special Issue is to publish original research papers or reviews concerning an updated overview of pre-clinical and clinical knowledge on the pathophysiology and molecular profiling of CMTs as well as on the development of innovations in the field, either alone or in combination with conventional radio- and chemotherapy.

We invite you to share your recent findings through this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
