Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
After the success of the first edition, it is again an honor to invite you to contribute to this second edition of the “Equine Veterinary Surgery” Special Issue. The enthusiastic response and scientific quality of the previous articles clearly demonstrated the ongoing commitment of the veterinary community to advancing the field of equine surgery.
Equine surgery continues to evolve rapidly, integrating new diagnostic techniques, novel biomaterials, regenerative therapies, and advanced imaging technologies, enhancing precision and safety in both traditional and minimally invasive procedures. The growing number of procedures performed on the standing horse, alongside constant improvements in anesthetic and perioperative management, exemplifies how our discipline continues to grow, prioritizing patient welfare.
This second edition aims to bring together high-quality contributions—original research, clinical studies, and comprehensive reviews—that highlight current trends, evaluate novel surgical techniques, and provide insights into evidence-based decision-making in equine surgery. There is a wide range of surgical conditions that affect our equine patients, and particular attention will be given to interdisciplinary works covering basic and clinical science, bringing innovation into our daily practice.
We are deeply grateful to all authors, reviewers, and collaborators who make this project possible and look forward to receiving your valuable contributions. We hope that this Special Issue will continue to serve as a reference point for equine practitioners and researchers worldwide, helping us to improve surgical outcomes, welfare, and athletic performance in our equine patients.
