Cover Story: How did the UK House of Commons sound before it was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1834? This is a historically important site of political performance, debating and governing in a period of political changes and agitation. An acoustic model has been designed to present the intangible principles of the House of Commons. We discuss the designing process of the acoustic model based on historical evidence and further experimentation on the acoustic characteristics and settings of the software. The model’s validity has been confirmed by comparing the results with acoustic measurements of spaces of similar historical importance. Auralization results are also available for a subjective evaluation of the results. View this paper
