Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Good work on both topic and references. An old-fashioned topic as anatomy reveals to be of paramount importance when the clinical signs of actual diseases are specifically related right to the anatomy!

I appreciated the overall manuscript because starting from an established fact it accurately describes the development of retina-choroidal layers tissues deeply analyzing the morphology by means of hi-tech instrumentation like AOSLO.  Another very interesting aspect is the description, with photographic documentation, of clinical cases accounting for the presence of the HR watershed zones.

Just a minor observation, you could try to keep the discussion shorter and simpler in order to be less redundant and more "striking".

Reviewer 2 Report

It is an excellent manuscript, with great possibilities to be published, the anatomical and functional knowledge of the "Horizontal Raphe of the Human Retina" is essential to understand retinal vascular diseases and the optic nerve.
My recommendations to improve the manuscript are the following:
1. Make an index table at the beginning of the manuscript. I also recommend making an acronym table.
2. Place the bibliographical references at the end of some sentences (lines 41, 54, 66, 78, 96, 104, 133, 149, 178, 183, 188, 208, 277, 323).
3. Is it possible to add the image of the angiography in case 4.2 (Clio-retinal artery occlusion) ?.
4. It would be interesting to make a figure that illustrated the main anatomical changes of the “Horizontal Raphe of the Human Retina”, according to the age of development of the retina. It could be included as a summary before the description of clinical cases.

 1. Make an index table at the beginning of the manuscript. I also recommend making an acronym table.
An Index table was inserted at the beginning of the manuscript.

2. Place the bibliographical references at the end of some sentences (lines 41, 54, 66, 78, 96, 104, 133, 149, 178, 183, 188, 208, 277, 323).
The placing of the references was changed accordingly.

3. Is it possible to add the image of the angiography in case 4.2 (Clio-retinal artery occlusion)?.
Unfortunately, no appropriate angiography is available.

4. It would be interesting to make a figure that illustrated the main anatomical changes of the “Horizontal Raphe of the Human Retina”, according to the age of development of the retina. It could be included as a summary before the description of clinical cases.

A new figure 6 was added.
