- Jaccard Index: A statistical measure of similarity between two sets, calculated as the size of the intersection divided by the size of the union of the sets. Values range from 0 (no overlap) to 1 (complete overlap).

- Churn Rate: The percentage of authors who were active in one period but inactive in the following period, indicating turnover in the publishing population.

- Survival Fraction: The proportion of authors from an initial cohort who continue to publish in subsequent years.

- Kaplan–Meier Estimator: A statistical method to estimate survival probability that accounts for right-censored data (where some authors may still be active at the end of the observation period).

- Largest Connected Component (LCC): The largest subset of the network where any node can be reached from any other node by following connections.

- Betweenness Centrality: A measure of a node’s importance based on how often it lies on the shortest path between other nodes in the network.
