Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The entitled article “Enhancement of the corrosion protection performance of epoxy coatings via modification of electrochemical-exfoliation graphene oxide " was carefully reviewed.

Limitation of the work, novelty and contributions should be highlighted more.

The introduction and discussion section still needs to be improved. The following references are relevant to the manuscript for corrosion based materials, which can be accommodated in the introduction for enrich the article.

For Electrochemical impedance measurements and anticorrosion performance confirmation the following relevant paper may be referred.

The provided SEM & TEM images need a full scale with magnification details.

In the current state, there are some typographical errors. Therefore, the authors are advised to recheck the whole manuscript.

Overall the article is fairly well written, after addressing the above comments the article is acceptable for publication.

After addressing the above comments, the article may be considered for publication.

Title: “Enhancement of the corrosion protection performance of epoxy coatings via modification of electrochemical-exfoliation graphene oxide”

The study was dedicated to the enhancement of corrosion protection by the use of modified electrochemical-exfoliated graphene oxide. Indeed, the electrochemical and salt spray tests revealed a significant improvement in the anti-corrosion characteristics. This improvement is attributed to the exceptional barrier performance resulting from the uniform distribution of MGO and the inhibitory capabilities of tannic acid. The subject is very interesting, the techniques used are modern and fashionable and the results are convincing and well-interpreted. The manuscript can be published in its current form, just the following remarks:

* The keywords need enhancement. For better searchability, the words from the title should not be in keywords.

* Add bibliographic references in the results section by comparing the present results with the old ones to highlight the new ones.

* Why didn't you use polarization potentiodynamics over a wide range of potential and voltammetry around OCP techniques?

1- Please rewrite the abstract and conclusion, the information are not enough.

2-Could you elaborate on the specific mechanisms behind the modification process involving dopamine and tannic acid? How do these mechanisms contribute to the improved properties of the epoxy coatings?

3- Can you delve deeper into the concept of the "labyrinth effect" and explain how it enhances the anticorrosion properties of the epoxy coatings?

4- Regarding the different effect of carbon allotropes on the corrosion following articles are recommended to be read and added for full corrosion mechanism discussion

5-The paper mentions a 25-day immersion test in 3.5% NaCl solution. Could you discuss the implications of the chosen duration and solution concentration on the evaluation of long-term anticorrosion performance?

6- Please improve the quality of the graphs in Fig.2 and Fig. 9
