Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The current paper proposes active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) that is applied to the vibration control of the all-clamped plate structure with an inertial actuator. The theory is validated using experiments.

Comments to authors:

- Please add more details of how the theory from the first sections is applied in the results section.

- How the authors obtained the parameters of the ADRC algorithm? Please detail this aspect.

- The stability of the algorithms is discussed. Please add in the experimental results part how the stability is fulfilled for this particular case.

- Define the sample time

- The authors can add the steps of implementing the algorithms. The theoretical part can be better detailed. The steps will be in the benefit of the readers, maybe they’ll help the readers to implement the proposed algorithm.

- The state of the art it is very poor regarding representative papers, maybe the author could add the following publications:

o Hybrid Data-Driven Fuzzy Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Tower Crane Systems, European Journal of Control, vol. 58, pp. 373-387-11, 2021.

o Enhanced P-type Control: Indirect Adaptive Learning from Set-point Updates, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, DOI: 10.1109/TAC.2022.3154347, 2022.

- Add the both the advantages and the disadvantages of the proposed method, in the current version of the paper only the advantages are presented.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript entitled ‘Vibration control of disturbed all-clamped plate with an inertial actuator based on cascade active disturbance rejection control’ is technically sound in terms of vibration control and suppression.

Regarding the scientific merit the authors should emphasize the novelty of their study with respect to the existing scientific body of literature published previously.

  1. The authors state in the Introduction section (lines 47-50) :’ …in order to establish a new model to facilitate the study..’. However, the novelty must be more clearly introduced.
  2. More detailed description of the electrodynamic inertial actuator model is needed and the transition between the electrodynamical to the mechanical model is needed. The influence of the electromagnetic system (parameters La and the Ra) should be clearly introduced, described, and discussed.
  3. The authors concluded that the nonlinear dynamics of the system are demonstrated by experiments (line 177 in the manuscript). However, the nonlinear dynamics of inertial actuators has already been demonstrated/identified previously [e.g., ref 9]. It is therefore necessary to discuss the difference of the findings demonstrated in the present study in comparison to the previously published studies and emphasise the scientific novelty also in the Conclusion section.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors improved the paper since the last version. From my point of view the paper deserves to pe published in Machines Journal.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript has been considerably improved and all questions and comments have been adequately addressed. In my opinion the manuscript can be accepted.
