The manuscript "Differential impacts of climatic and land use changes on habitat suitability and protected area adequacy across the Asian elephant’s range" is suitable to public. In result and discussion may not fit with the real situation in some area such as in Thailand. Authors should give more details in these parts.

This is a useful study predicting the impact of land use and climatic changes on the habitat of the endangered Asian elephant. This study differs from a previous study by covering the entire range of the Asian elephant. Although I am not well versed with MaxEnt modelling, I find that the methods and analyses have logic and coherence.
The gap analyses indicates that although the present protected areas boundaries include elephant habitats, a high proportion of core areas lie outside the PAs. Therefore for the viability of the species, the core areas that have been identified in this study need to be included in the PA network. In that regard Figure 15 needs to be re-done and at better resolution as the differences between between priority protected areas and protected areas is not clear.
The summary and introduction needs extensive editing as there were a lot redundancies. The first five lines in the summary was not necessary, instead the first few lines could focus on the future of endangered species in the context of climate change and the management aspects.
The first paragraph of the Introduction needs to be more specific to the topic at hand. For instance the introduction can begin with an overview of studies that use Max Ent as a predictive tool in conservation biology and then go onto the Asian elephant.
The authors have carried out a wide literature review on the Asian elephant. Some of this can be condensed.
