Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Thank you for the opportunity to review the paper titled: “Entrepreneurial Orientation and Venture Creation in Nigerian Context: Assessing Mediating and Moderating Roles of Self-efficacy and Entrepreneurial Support among Graduates“. The article presents an interesting and innovative research model with hypotheses supported with literature. The paper is well structured, but some parts/ideas are repeated. I believe that the manuscript can be shortened. In addition,  the authors used robust statistical analyses to validate the research model.. However, some literature review can be better informed (with more recent references in the bibliography), as well as a justification about the theories used could be presented in Introduction section.

The Introduction section is good but the authors should present more clearly the research gap identified. Overall, the paper offers an interesting overview for this research model propose (important constructs) that has not received in-depth attention in the scholarly debate. However, Background theory section, the authors should present the research hypotheses before the model.

The Results section can be improved. Please more discussion in your results is necessary, as well as more futures lines for investigation in this research field should be also suggested.

The research problem was justified both from the needs of theory and practice. Indeed, the unemployment rate of Nigerian youths and graduates makes it urgent to take sustainable measures such as entrepreneurial support. Moreover, the problem is rooted in social sustainability and thus fits into the Journal's scope.

However, the conceptual framework needs some clarifications as the relationship between EO and self-efficacy has not been sufficiently explained and justified in the literature review section. Have these two concepts been analysed together earlier by other researchers? As they are two separate concepts, the link between them made by the authors in the paragraph in lines 109-115 is not convincing. Significantly, the relationship between proactiveness and self-efficacy seems to be convergent. Can you elaborate on this issue to make this relationship clearer?

Following the reading apart of my doubt above, the arguments' substance and reasoning correctness are impeccable. Also, the research design, including formulation of hypotheses, measures applied, and data analysis, seem fine; however, please note that I am not an expert in quantitative research methods.

The discussion and conclusion parts are coherent and compelling. Summing up, you delivered a sound and well-designed study. However, I would like you to address my doubt to make my final recommendation.
Thanks,

It can be assessed as a very well-written and good paper. In order to make it an even better article, the following points could be considered further.

Firstly, the conclusions obtained should be mentioned in the discussion to make them more generalisable. Instead, it is about whether this conclusion is specific to Nigeria. It is not expected to be answered, but this paper can ask questions.

The paper also uses the critical concept of self-efficacy. Does this not lead to an increasing convergence of entrepreneurial efforts towards a more personalised approach? If this is the case, it should also be discussed.

The above should be discussed in depth.
