Anterior Redisplacement After Intramedullary Nail Fixation for Trochanteric Femoral Fractures: Incidence and Risk Factors in 598 Older Patients

Background/Objectives: Anterior redisplacement, defined as a postoperative anterior shift of the distal fragment despite intraoperative reduction, is occasionally observed after cephalomedullary nailing for trochanteric femoral fractures. However, its incidence and associated risk factors remain unclear. This study aimed to determine the incidence of anterior redisplacement following intramedullary nail fixation in geriatric trochanteric fractures, and to identify independent risk factors. Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed data from 598 consecutive hips in 577 patients (aged ≥65 years) who underwent intramedullary nail fixation for trochanteric fractures at a single center (2012–2023). Sagittal reduction on the lateral radiographic view was classified as posterior, anatomical, or anterior according to the position of the distal fragment, and was recorded preoperatively and postoperatively. Anterior redisplacement, the primary outcome, was defined as a change in alignment from a posterior or anatomical position postoperatively to an anterior position on any subsequent follow-up radiograph. Independent risk factors were identified by logistic regression. Results: Among the 543 hips reduced posteriorly (n = 204) or anatomically (n = 339), anterior redisplacement occurred in 73 (13.4%). The incidence of anterior redisplacement was significantly higher following anatomical compared to posterior reduction (19.5% vs. 3.4%; p < 0.001), and also higher in fractures that were anteriorly aligned preoperatively (18.0%) compared to anatomical (8.5%; p < 0.01) and posterior (6.2%; p < 0.01) alignment. Multivariate analysis revealed two independent predictors: preoperative anterior alignment (odds ratio [OR] 1.87, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.24–2.81; p = 0.003) and postoperative anatomical (vs. posterior) reduction (OR 6.49, 95% CI 2.92–14.44; p < 0.001). Age, sex, Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopaedic Trauma Association classification, Evans–Jensen classification, nail length, and canal-filling ratio were not associated with redisplacement. No lag-screw cutout occurred during the follow-up. Conclusions: Anterior redisplacement occurred in one of seven geriatric trochanteric fractures despite apparently satisfactory fixation. An anatomical sagittal reduction—traditionally considered “ideal”—increases the risk more than sixfold, whereas a deliberate posterior-buttress is protective. Unlike patient-related risk factors, sagittal reduction is under the surgeon’s control. The study findings provide evidence that choosing a slight posterior bias can significantly improve stability. Background/Objectives: We aimed to identify questionnaire items associated with an increased risk of developing hepatic steatosis in the general population. Methods: A total of 15,063 individuals aged ≥20 years who underwent general health checkups and had no hepatic steatosis at baseline were included. The relationship between questionnaire data at baseline and hepatic steatosis incidence over a median 4.2-year follow-up was investigated across body mass index (BMI) categories. Results: Among 15,063 individuals (mean [SD] age, 47.1 [10.2] years; 6769 [44.9%] male; mean [SD] BMI, 21.4 [2.6] kg/m2), 1889 individuals (12.5%) developed hepatic steatosis during follow-up. After adjusting for age, sex, and factors related to metabolic diseases and liver injury, the strongest questionnaire-based risk factor for hepatic steatosis was self-reported weight gain of 10 kg or more after the age of 20 across all BMI categories: total population (hazard ratio [HR], 2.11; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.90–2.34; p < 0.001), Category 1 (BMI < 22) (HR, 2.33; 95% CI, 1.86–2.91; p < 0.001), Category 2 (BMI 22 to <25) (HR, 1.43; 95% CI, 1.25–1.63; p < 0.001), and Category 3 (BMI ≥ 25) (HR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.12–1.77; p = 0.003). Conclusions: In this cohort study, self-reported weight gain of 10 kg or more after the age of 20 was associated with an increased risk of hepatic steatosis, independent of baseline BMI. Questionnaires capturing weight gain history may support universal screening efforts to identify individuals at elevated risk. Full article

Background: Asprosin is a relatively recently discovered glucogenic adipokine secreted during fasting that plays an important role in various biochemical processes in the body, including those connected with obesity and insulin resistance. The aim of this exploratory study was to investigate the associations between selected hormonal, anthropometric, and lifestyle-related parameters and serum asprosin concentration. As studies concerning fertility and asprosin have so far been limited to men or women with PCOS, its role in the general female population remains largely unexplored. The direction of this exploration was thus pointed toward possible connections with female fertility. Methods: The case-control study group included 56 women of reproductive age (25–42 years), who were patients of the Reproductive Health Clinic and the Clinic of Endocrinology, Diabetology, and Internal Medicine of the Medical University of Białystok, Poland. The levels of selected hormones, including anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), estradiol, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and testosterone, body composition parameters, and a lifestyle parameter—night fasting duration—were assessed to test their associations with serum asprosin concentration. Results: A weak negative correlation was found between AMH level and serum asprosin concentration, suggesting a potential link between asprosin and ovarian reserve. Furthermore, a moderate positive correlation was found between the percentage of total body water (TBW) and serum asprosin concentration. No significant associations were observed between the levels of the other tested hormones and serum asprosin concentration, or between body composition parameters or night fasting duration and serum asprosin concentration. The multivariate model designed in the study shows that AMH, TBW, and night fasting duration explain 23.4% of asprosin variability. Conclusions: Although the nature of the study is exploratory, the findings indicate that the role of asprosin in the female population—particularly its role in fertility—requires further research. Not only is the number of available studies on asprosin insufficient, but the results of this study partly contradict what is known about the hormone from previous studies, which were largely performed with male cohorts. In addition, the results of this study suggest that asprosin may indeed be involved in mechanisms related to female fertility, particularly those connected with ovarian reserve. Nevertheless, studies performed in larger, more homogeneous populations are necessary to confirm the role of asprosin in women, including its association with female fertility. Full article

Background/Objectives: Lateral patellar dislocation (LPD) is a common pathology of the adolescent knee and a major predisposing factor for patellofemoral instability (PFI). The pathogenesis of PFI involves a combination of anatomical and biomechanical contributors, with increasing evidence pointing to sex-specific differences in knee morphology. Despite this, the developmental course of these parameters and their variation between sexes remain insufficiently characterized. This study aims to investigate sex-related differences in patellofemoral joint geometry among skeletally immature patients with a history of PFI, focusing on how these anatomical variations evolve with increasing knee size, as represented by femoral condylar width. Methods: A total of 315 knee MRIs from patients under 18 years with documented PFI were retrospectively analyzed. Trochlear morphology, patellar tilt, axial positioning, and sagittal alignment were assessed using established MRI-based parameters. All measurements were normalized to bicondylar width to account for individual knee size. Sex-specific comparisons were performed using independent t-tests and linear regression analysis. Results: Females exhibited significantly smaller femoral widths, shallower trochlear depth (TD), shorter tibial tubercle–posterior cruciate ligament (TTPCL) distances, and lower patellar trochlear index (PTI) values compared to males (p < 0.05). In males, increasing femoral width was associated with progressive normalization of patellar tilt and sagittal alignment parameters. In contrast, these alignment parameters in females remained largely unchanged or worsened across different femoral sizes. Additionally, patellar inclination angle and PTI were significantly influenced by knee size in males (p < 0.05), whereas no such relationship was identified in females. Conclusions: Sex-specific morphological differences in patellofemoral geometry are evident early in development and evolve distinctly with growth. These differences may contribute to the higher prevalence of PFI in females and underscore the importance of considering sex and knee size in anatomical assessments. Full article

Diabetes-related pathophysiological processes contribute to endothelial dysfunction, arterial stiffening (AS), hypertension, vascular remodeling, and impaired myocardial perfusion. This study aimed to assess the relationship between arterial wall parameters and sST2 concentration as potential risk factors in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and investigate sex-related differences. To achieve this, we enrolled 100 patients with suspected or exacerbated coronary artery disease (CAD) and divided them into a T2DM group (n = 58) and a control group (n = 42). Endothelial reactivity (lnRHI), ABI, sST2 levels, and carotid–femoral (cfPWV) and carotid–radial pulse wave velocity (crPWV) were assessed. Coronary angiography was performed in every patient, and epicardial flow and myocardial perfusion were evaluated using QuBE and FLASH. Our results showed that the coronary angiographic findings were similar in both groups. However, T2DM patients had a significantly higher central AS (cfPWV 10.8 ± 2 vs. 9.9 ± 2.7 m/s, p < 0.05) and vascular age (70.0 ± 12.3 vs. 61.3 ± 15.4 years, p < 0.05), while peripheral AS, RHI, and ABI showed no differences. CfPWV correlated with renal function; higher HbA1c and sST2 levels were additionally associated with advanced vascular age. Notably, central AS and vascular age were higher in men with T2DM but not in women. These findings indicate that T2DM patients exhibit increased central AS and vascular aging, influenced by sST2 levels, suggesting fibrosis as a target for precision medicine in T2DM. Full article

Background/Objectives: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and severe complication in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Very elderly patients are at a heightened risk of developing AKI. Fibrinogen and albumin are well-known biomarkers of inflammation and nutrition, which are highly related to AKI. We aim to explore the predictive value of the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) for AKI in very elderly patients with AMI. Methods: A retrospective cohort of AMI patients ≥ 75 years old hospitalized at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University between January 2018 and December 2022 was established. Clinical data and medication information were collected through the biospecimen information resource center at the hospital. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between FAR and the risk of AKI in patients with AMI. FAR was calculated as the ratio of fibrinogen (FIB) to serum albumin (ALB) level (FAR = FIB/ALB). The primary outcome is acute kidney injury, which was diagnosed based on KDIGO 2012 criteria. Results: Among 1236 patients enrolled, 66.8% of them were male, the median age was 80.00 years (77.00–83.00), and acute kidney injury occurred in 18.8% (n = 232) of the cohort. Comparative analysis revealed significant disparities in clinical characteristics between patients with or without AKI. Patients with AKI exhibited a markedly higher prevalence of arrhythmia (51.9% vs. 28.1%, p < 0.001) and lower average systolic blood pressure (115.77 ± 25.96 vs. 122.64 ± 22.65 mmHg, p = 0.013). In addition, after adjusting for age, sex, history of hypertension, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and other factors, FAR remained an independent risk factor for acute kidney injury (OR = 1.47, 95%CI: 1.36–1.58). ROC analysis shows that FAR predicted stage 2–3 AKI with superior accuracy (AUC 0.94, NPV 98.6%) versus any AKI (AUC 0.79, NPV 93.0%), enabling risk-stratified management. Conclusions: FAR serves as both a high-sensitivity screening tool for any AKI and a high-specificity sentinel for severe AKI, with NPV-driven thresholds guiding resource allocation in the fragile elderly. The successful transmission of Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease, depends on intricate interactions with its insect vector. In Mexico, Meccus pallidipennis is a relevant triatomine species involved in the parasite’s life cycle. In the gut of these insects, the parasite moves from the anterior midgut (AMG) to the posterior midgut (PMG), where it multiplies. Finally, T. cruzi differentiates into its infective form by metacyclogenesis in the proctodeum or rectum (RE). This study aimed to characterize and compare the protein and glycoprotein profiles of the anterior midgut (AMG) and rectum (RE) of M. pallidipennis, and to assess their potential association with T. cruzi metacyclogenesis, with special attention to sex-specific differences. Insects were infected with the T. cruzi isolate ITRI/MX/12/MOR (Morelos). Protein profiles were analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, while glycoproteins were detected using ConA, WGA, and PNA lectins. The metacyclogenesis index was calculated for male and female triatomines. A lower overlap of protein fractions was found in the RE compared to the AMG between sexes, suggesting functional sexual dimorphism. Infected females showed greater diversity in glycoprotein patterns in the RE, potentially related to higher blood intake and parasite burden. The metacyclogenesis index was significantly higher in females than in males. These findings highlight sex-dependent differences in gut protein and glycoprotein profiles in M. pallidipennis, which may influence the efficiency of T. cruzi development within the vector. Further proteomic studies are needed to identify the molecular components involved and clarify their roles in parasite differentiation and suggest new targets for disrupting parasite transmission within the vector. The Prevalence and Impact of Dentinal Hypersensitivity on Adults’ Quality of Life in Saudi Arabia

Background: Dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) significantly impacts oral health-related quality of life. While global prevalence estimates range from 10–15%, region-specific data from Saudi Arabia remain limited. This study also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s mental health initiatives, as DH-associated anxiety impacts overall well-being. This study assessed DH prevalence and quality of life impact among Saudi adults. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted among 748 Saudi adults aged ≥ 18 years between April and May. Data were collected using a validated Arabic Dentinal Hypersensitivity Experience Questionnaire (DHEQ) alongside socio-demographic variables. Participants reporting DH symptoms within 12 months were included in impact analyses. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA examined associations between DHEQ scores and participant characteristics. Results: Self-reported DH prevalence was 54.3% (n = 406), substantially exceeding global estimates. Among affected individuals, mean DHEQ score was 0.56 ± 0.19, indicating moderate-to-substantial quality-of-life impact. Functional limitations were most affected, particularly enjoyment of eating and drinking (0.72 ± 0.21). Significant associations were identified between higher DHEQ scores and age extremes (<18 and >35 years; p < 0.001), higher income levels (p = 0.032), fewer teeth (p = 0.040), and dental pain presence (p = 0.009). Sex, residence, education, and employment showed no significant associations. Conclusions: More than half of Saudi adults reported DH symptoms, representing a significant public health concern with substantial quality of life implications. Prevalence substantially exceeds global estimates, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. Age, income, tooth count, and pain presence emerged as key factors. These findings support developing population-specific prevention strategies, particularly targeting younger and older adults with tooth loss. Full article

Background: Obesity and its complications have increased in both adults and children, with pediatric populations developing metabolic disorders at earlier ages. Long non-coding RNAs, particularly MEG3, are involved in obesity through regulation of lipogenic genes including ATF4, FTO, SREBP1, FASN, and ACACA. However, data on MEG3 expression in pediatric obesity are limited. This study evaluated MEG3, FTO, and ATF4 expression in PBMCs from children with obesity and their associations with added sugar intake and lipid metabolism genes. Methods: In this cross-sectional study 71 children within the age range of 6 to 12 years were included (28 normal weight and 43 with obesity). Anthropometrical and clinical parameters and dietary added sugar consumption were analyzed. Real-time PCR was performed to assess MEG3, FTO, ATF4, SREBP1, FASN, and ACACA gene expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Results: The expression of MEG3, ATF4, FTO, SREBP1, FASN, and ACACA was decreased in children with obesity. MEG3 and FTO showed sex-dependent expression in children without obesity, while additional sex-related differences were observed for SREBP1, FASN, ACACA, FTO, and MEG3 in children with obesity. MEG3 was associated with the expression of SREBP1, FASN, ACACA, FTO, and ATF4. In insulin-resistant (IR) children, MEG3, ATF4, FTO, ACACA, and SREBP1 were reduced, while FASN was increased. Added sugar intake negatively correlated with FTO, SREBP1, and ACACA. Conclusions: The MEG3, FTO, and ATF4 expression was altered in children with obesity, showing sex- and IR-related differences. Added sugar intake correlated negatively with lipogenic gene expression. Full article

Agrarian women are at the forefront of rural livelihoods increasingly affected by the frequency and severity of climate change impacts. However, their household livelihood resilience (HLR) remains limited due to gender-blind policies, scarce sex-disaggregated data, and inadequate consideration of gender-specific needs in resilience-building efforts. Grounded in participatory feminist research, this study employed a multi-method qualitative approach, including semi-structured interviews and oral history narratives, with 60 women in two climate-vulnerable provinces. Data were analyzed through thematic coding, CATWOE (Customers, Actors, Transformation, Worldview, Owners, Environmental Constraints) analysis, and descriptive statistics. The findings identify nine major climate-related events disrupting livelihoods and reveal a limited understanding of HLR as a long-term, transformative concept. Adaptation strategies remain short-term and focused on immediate survival. Barriers to HLR include financial constraints, limited access to agricultural resources and technology, and entrenched gender norms restricting women’s leadership and decision-making. While local governments, women’s associations, and community networks provide some support, gaps in accessibility and adequacy persist. Participants expressed the need for financial assistance, vocational training, agricultural technologies, and stronger peer networks. Strengthening HLR among agrarian women requires gender-sensitive policies, investment in local support systems, and community-led initiatives. Empowering agrarian women as agents of change is critical for fostering resilient rural livelihoods and achieving inclusive, sustainable development. Full article

Reference Values for Liver Stiffness in Newborns by Gestational Age, Sex, and Weight Using Three Different Elastography Methods

Objective: To determine reference values of liver stiffness during the first week of extrauterine life in healthy newborns, according to gestational age, sex, and birth weight, using three elastography techniques: point shear wave elastography (pSWE) and two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) with convex and linear probes. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational study conducted at a single center on a hospital-based cohort of 287 newborns between 24 and 42 weeks of gestation, admitted between January 2023 and May 2024. Cases with liver disease, significant neonatal morbidity, or technically invalid studies were excluded. Hepatic elastography was performed during the first week of life using pSWE and 2D-SWE with both convex and linear probes. Clinical and technical neonatal variables were recorded. Liver stiffness values were analyzed in relation to gestational age, birth weight, and sex. Linear regression models were applied to assess associations, considering p-values < 0.05 as statistically significant. Results: After applying exclusion criteria, valid liver stiffness measurements were obtained in 208 cases with pSWE, 224 with 2D-SWE (convex probe), and 222 with 2D-SWE (linear probe). A statistically significant inverse association between liver stiffness and gestational age (p < 0.03) was observed across all techniques except for 2D-SWE with the linear probe. Only 2D-SWE with the convex probe showed a significant association with birth weight. No significant differences were observed based on neonatal sex. The 2D-SWE technique with the convex probe demonstrated significantly shorter examination times compared to pSWE (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Neonatal liver stiffness measured by pSWE and 2D-SWE with a convex probe shows an inverse correlation with gestational age, potentially reflecting the structural and functional maturation of the liver. These techniques are safe, reliable, and provide useful information for distinguishing normal findings in preterm neonates from early hepatic pathology. The values obtained represent a valuable reference for clinical hepatic assessment in the neonatal period. Full article

This study aims to characterize short-wave infrared (SWIR) reflectance spectra at cranial (at the scalp overlying the frontal cortex and the temporal bone window) and extracranial (biceps and triceps) sites in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and age-/sex-matched controls. We sought to identify the diagnostic accuracy of wavelength-specific patterns in distinguishing MS from normal controls and spectral markers associated with disability (e.g., Expanded Disability Status Scale scores). To achieve these objectives, we employed a multi-site SWIR spectroscopy acquisition protocol that included measurements from traditional cranial locations as well as extracranial reference sites. Advanced spectral analysis techniques, including wavelength-dependent absorption modeling and machine learning-based classification, were applied to differentiate MS-related hemodynamic changes from normal physiological variability. Classification models achieved perfect performance (accuracy = 1.00), and cortical site regression models showed strong predictive power (EDSS: R2CV = 0.980; FSS: R2CV = 0.939). Variable Importance in Projection (VIP) analysis highlighted key wavelengths as potential spectral biomarkers. This approach allowed us to explore novel biomarkers of neural and systemic impairment in MS, paving the way for potential clinical applications of SWIR spectroscopy in disease monitoring and management. In conclusion, spectral analysis revealed distinct wavelength-specific patterns collected from cranial and extracranial sites reflecting biochemical and structural differences between patients with MS and normal subjects. These differences are driven by underlying physiological changes, including myelin integrity, neuronal density, oxidative stress, and water content fluctuations in the brain or muscles. This study shows that portable spectral devices may contribute to bedside individuation and monitoring of neural diseases, offering a cost-effective alternative to repeated imaging. Full article

Understanding how habitat conditions drive morphological adaptations in animals is critical in ecology, yet amphibian studies remain limited. This study investigated intraspecific variation in ecomorphological traits of three montane stream-dwelling frogs (Quasipaa boulengeri, Amolops sinensis, and Odorrana margaratae) across elevation gradients in Tianping Mountain, China. Using morphological measurements and environmental variables collected from ten transects, we analyzed functional traits related to feeding and locomotion and assessed their associations with microhabitat variables. Significant trait differences between low- and high-elevation groups were detected only in Q. boulengeri, with high-elevation individuals exhibiting greater body mass and shorter hindlimbs. Redundancy analysis demonstrated that microhabitat variables, particularly air humidity, flow rate, and rock coverage, were linked to trait variations. For example, air humidity and flow rate significantly influenced Q. boulengeri’s body and limb proportions, while flow rate affected A. sinensis’s snout and limb morphology. In addition, sex and seasonal effects were also associated with trait variations. These results underscore amphibians’ phenotypic plasticity in response to the environment and highlight the role of microhabitat complexity in shaping traits. By linking habitat heterogeneity to eco-morphology, this study advocates for conservation strategies that preserve varied stream environments to support amphibian resilience amid environmental changes. Background and Objectives: Emerging evidence indicates that individuals exposed to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) face elevated risks for various chronic illnesses. However, the association between ACEs and osteoporosis risk remains underexplored, particularly regarding potential modifications by genetic susceptibility. This prospective cohort study aims to examine the relationship of ACEs with incident osteoporosis and investigate interactions with polygenic risk score (PRS). Materials and Methods: This study analyzed 124,789 UK Biobank participants initially free of osteoporosis. Cumulative ACE burden (emotional neglect, emotional abuse, physical neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse) was ascertained through validated questionnaires. Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards models assessed osteoporosis risk during a median follow-up of 12.8 years. Moderation analysis examined genetic susceptibility interactions using a standardized PRS incorporating osteoporosis-related SNPs. Results: Among 2474 incident osteoporosis cases, cumulative ACEs showed dose–response associations with osteoporosis risk (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]per one-unit increase = 1.07, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.04–1.11; high ACEs [≥3 types] vs. none: HR = 1.26, 1.10–1.43). Specifically, emotional neglect (HR = 1.14, 1.04–1.25), emotional abuse (HR = 1.14, 1.03–1.27), physical abuse (HR = 1.17, 1.05–1.30), and sexual abuse (HR = 1.15, 1.01–1.31) demonstrated comparable effect sizes. Sex-stratified analysis revealed stronger associations in women. Joint exposure to high ACEs/high PRS tripled osteoporosis risk (HR = 3.04, 2.46–3.76 vs. low ACEs/low PRS) although G × E interaction was nonsignificant (P-interaction = 0.10). Conclusions: These results suggest that ACEs conferred incremental osteoporosis risk independent of genetic predisposition. These findings support the inclusion of ACE screening in osteoporosis prevention strategies and highlight the need for targeted bone health interventions for youth exposed to ACEs. Full article

Background: Understanding the origin and natural organization of early infant vocalizations is important for predicting communication and language abilities in later years. The very frequent production of speech-like vocalizations (hereafter “protophones”), occurring largely independently of interaction, is part of this developmental process. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the gap durations (time intervals) between protophones, comparing typically developing (TD) infants and infants later diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a naturalistic setting where endogenous protophones occur frequently. Additionally, we explore potential age-related variations and sex differences in gap durations. Methods: We analyzed ~1500 five min recording segments from longitudinal all-day home recordings of 147 infants (103 TD infants and 44 autistic infants) during their first year of life. The data included over 90,000 infant protophones. Human coding was employed to ensure maximally accurate timing data. This method included the human judgment of gap durations specified based on time-domain and spectrographic displays. Results and Conclusions: Short gap durations occurred between protophones produced by infants, with a mode between 301 and 400 ms, roughly the length of an infant syllable, across all diagnoses, sex, and age groups. However, we found significant differences in the gap duration distributions between ASD and TD groups when infant-directed speech (IDS) was relatively frequent, as well as across age groups and sexes. The Generalized Linear Modeling (GLM) results confirmed these findings and revealed longer gap durations associated with higher IDS, female sex, older age, and TD diagnosis. Age-related differences and sex differences were highly significant for both diagnosis groups. Full article
