This article examines how digital innovation ecosystems have emerged as strategic institutions of power in contemporary world politics. It argues that, unlike Cold War technological rivalries driven by centralized, state-led control, today’s digital competition depends on states’ capacity to orchestrate scalable, multistakeholder ecosystems. Using a cultural–institutional framework, we explain how differences in strategic culture and institutional governance impact the ecosystem’s vitality and performance. A qualitative comparative analysis of the United States, China, and Russia reveals that constructive orchestration, aligning state institutions with generative, commercial-to-national innovation flows, enhances digital leadership, whereas rigid, obstructive governance limits it. This highlights ecosystem governance as a critical dimension of statecraft in the digital age. The findings underscore that the positions of great powers in the global technological hierarchy depend not only on resources or capabilities but also on the effectiveness of ecosystem governance as an evolving instrument of geopolitical power. In this position paper, we argue that the conventional understanding of ‘information’ (as generally conceived in science, in a digital fashion) is overly simplistic and not consistently applicable to living systems, which are open systems that cannot be reduced to any kind of ‘portion’ (building block) ascribed to the category of quantity. Instead, it is a matter of relationships and qualities in an indivisible analogical (and ontological) relationship between any presumed ‘software’ and ‘hardware’ (information/matter, psyche/soma). Furthermore, in biological systems, contrary to Shannon’s definition, which is well-suited to telecommunications and informatics, any kind of ‘information’ is the opposite of internal entropy, as it depends directly on order: it is associated with distinction and differentiation, rather than flattening and homogenisation. Moreover, the high degree of structural compartmentalisation of living matter prevents its energetics from being thermodynamically described by using a macroscopic, bulk state function. This requires the Second Principle of Thermodynamics to be redefined in order to make it applicable to living systems. For these reasons, any static, bit-related concept of ‘information’ is inadequate, as it fails to consider the system’s evolution, it being, in essence, the organized coupling to its own environment. From the perspective of quantum field theory (QFT), where many vacuum levels, symmetry breaking, dissipation, coherence and phase transitions can be described, a consistent picture emerges that portrays any living system as a relational process that exists as a flux of context-dependent meanings. This epistemological shift is also associated with a transition away from the ‘particle view’ (first quantisation) characteristic of quantum mechanics (QM) towards the ‘field view’ possible only in QFT (second quantisation). This crucial transition must take place in life sciences, particularly regarding the methodological approaches. Foremost because biological systems cannot be conceived as ‘objects’, but rather as non-confinable processes and relationships. Full article

There is a long tradition of studying river sharing problems. A central question frequently examined and addressed is how common benefits or costs can be distributed fairly. In this context, axiomatic approaches of cooperative game theory often use contradictory principles of international water law, which are strictly rejected in practice. That leads to the question: Are these methods suitable for a real-world application? First, we conduct a systematic literature review based on the PRISMA approach to categorise the river sharing problems. We identified several articles describing a variety of methods and real-world applications, highlighting interdisciplinary interest. Second, we evaluate the identified axiomatic literature related to TU games with regard to their suitability for real-world applications. We exclude those “standalone” methods that exclusively follow extreme principles and/or do not describe cooperative behaviour. This is essential for a fair distribution. Third, we propose to use the traditional game-theoretical approach of airport games in the context of river protection measures to ensure a better economic interpretation and to enforce future cooperation in the joint implementation of protective measures. Background/Objectives: Traditional dietary screeners face significant limitations: they rely on subjective self-reporting, average intake estimates, and are influenced by a participant’s awareness of being observed—each of which can distort results. These factors reduce both accuracy and reproducibility. The Guide Against Age-Related Disease (GARD) addresses these issues by applying Assembly Theory to objectively quantify food and food behavior (FFB) complexity. This study aims to validate the GARD as a structured, bias-resistant tool for dietary assessment in clinical and research settings. Methods: The GARD survey was administered in an internal medicine clinic within a suburban hospital system in the southeastern U.S. The tool assessed six daily eating windows, scoring high-complexity FFBs (e.g., fresh plants, social eating, fasting) as +1 and low-complexity FFBs (e.g., ultra-processed foods, refined ingredients, distracted eating) as –1. To minimize bias, patients were unaware of scoring criteria and reported only what they ate the previous day, avoiding broad averages. A computer algorithm then scored responses based on complexity, independent of dietary guidelines. Internal (face, convergent, and discriminant) validity was assessed using Spearman rho correlations. Results: Face validation showed high inter-rater agreement using predefined Assembly Index (Ai) and Copy Number (Ni) thresholds. Positive correlations were found between high-complexity diets and behaviors (rho = 0.533–0.565, p < 0.001), while opposing constructs showed moderate negative correlations (rho = –0.363 to −0.425, p < 0.05). GARD scores aligned with established diet patterns: Mediterranean diets averaged +22; Standard American Diet averaged −10. Full article

This study investigates the relationships between proactive personality, psychological capital, work engagement, work well-being, and innovative work behavior among employees in Saudi public authorities, based on the conservation of resources theory and the job demands-resources model. Using a sequential mediation model, data from 457 public employees were analyzed through structural equation modeling. The results show that a proactive personality and psychological capital significantly predict work engagement, but neither is significantly related to work well-being. Notably, while a proactive personality does not directly impact innovative work behavior, psychological capital does. Additionally, work well-being partially mediates the relationship between work engagement and innovative work behavior. These findings suggest that enhancing psychological capital and fostering engagement are key to promoting innovation. The mediating role of well-being highlights the importance of employee welfare in this process. This study provides practical implications for HR managers in the Saudi public sector and emphasizes strategies for building internal psychological resources. However, as data were collected from a single source, future research should include multiple key informants to enhance generalizability. This study builds on theory by demonstrating how proactive personality and psychological capital jointly stimulate innovative behavior through engagement and well-being, enriching the job demands-resources model with personal resource dynamics in public sector organizations. This paper explores the complex power dynamics of UK social work higher education through an autoethnographic account of a Black woman course leader’s experiences over a period of two years, focusing on issues related to race, internalized oppression, and class. Drawing on Critical Race Theory (CRT), narrative analysis, and lived experience, it examines how systemic inequities manifest through three interlinked themes: (a) academic contrapower harassment (ACPH), (b) internalized oppression and toxic team dynamics, and (c) the interplay of harassment, institutional failure, managerial inaction, and the marginalization of social work as a discipline. This study illustrates how the intersectionality of multiple identities—namely, race, gender, and professional identity—impacts career progression, well-being, and institutional inclusion. This study examines the tensions between social work’s ethical foundations and performance-driven academic environments, advocating for systemic and policy interventions to stimulate institutional reform and cultivate a more equitable culture that enhances educational outcomes and, ultimately, improves social work practice. Background/objective: Tailoring involves adapting research findings and evidence to suit specific contexts and audiences. This study examines how international stroke guidelines can be tailored to address gait issues after a stroke. Methods: A three-phase consensus method approach was used. A 10-member health experts panel extracted recommendations from three national clinical guidelines in the first phase. In the second phase, 362 physiotherapists completed an online questionnaire to assess the feasibility of adopting the extracted recommendations. In the third phase, a 15-physical therapist consensus workshop was convened to clarify factors that might affect the tailoring process of the extracted recommendations of gait disorder rehabilitation. Results: In phase one, 21 recommendations reached consensus. In the second phase, 362 stroke physiotherapists rated the applicability of these recommendations: 14 rated high, 7 rated low, and none were rejected. The third phase, a nominal group meeting (NGM), explored four themes related to tailoring. The first theme, “organizational factors”, includes elements such as clinical setting, culture, and regulations. The second theme, “individual clinician factors”, assesses aspects like clinical experience, expertise, abilities, knowledge, and attitudes toward tailoring. The third theme, “patient factors”, addresses issues related to multimorbidity, comorbidities, patient engagement, and shared decision-making. The final theme, “other factors”, examines the impact of research design on tailoring. Conclusions: Tailoring international clinical guidelines involves multiple factors. This situation brings home the importance of a systematic strategy for tailoring that incorporates various assessment criteria to enhance the use of clinical evidence. Future research should investigate additional implementation theories to enhance the translation of evidence into practice. Full article

In device-independent (DI) quantum protocols, security statements are agnostic to the internal workings of the quantum devices—they rely solely on classical interactions with the devices and specific assumptions. Traditionally, such protocols are set in a non-local scenario, where two non-communicating devices exhibit Bell inequality violations. Recently, a new class of DI protocols has emerged that requires only a single device. In this setting, the assumption of no communication is replaced by a computational one: the device cannot solve certain post-quantum cryptographic problems. Protocols developed in this single-device computational setting—such as for randomness certification—have relied on ad hoc techniques, making their guarantees difficult to compare and generalize. In this work, we introduce a modular proof framework inspired by techniques from the non-local DI literature. Our approach combines tools from quantum information theory, including entropic uncertainty relations and the entropy accumulation theorem, to yield both conceptual clarity and quantitative security guarantees. This framework provides a foundation for systematically analyzing DI protocols in the single-device setting under computational assumptions. It enables the design and security proof of future protocols for DI randomness generation, expansion, amplification, and key distribution, grounded in post-quantum cryptographic hardness. Internal leakage within the valve body constitutes a severe potential safety hazard in industrial fluid control systems, attributable to its high concealment and the resultant difficulty in detection via conventional methodologies. Acoustic emission (AE) technology, functioning as an efficient non-destructive testing approach, is capable of capturing the transient stress waves induced by leakage, thereby furnishing an effective means for the real-time monitoring and quantitative assessment of internal leakage within the valve body. This paper conducts a systematic review of the theoretical foundations, signal-processing methodologies, and the latest research advancements related to the technology for detecting internal leakage in the valve body based on acoustic emission. Firstly, grounded in Lechlier’s acoustic analogy theory, the generation mechanism of acoustic emission signals arising from valve body leakage is elucidated. Secondly, a detailed analysis is conducted on diverse signal processing techniques and their corresponding optimization strategies, encompassing parameter analysis, time–frequency analysis, nonlinear dynamics methods, and intelligent algorithms. Moreover, this paper recapitulates the current challenges encountered by this technology and delineates future research orientations, such as the fusion of multi-modal sensors, the deployment of lightweight deep learning models, and integration with the Internet of Things. This study provides a systematic reference for the engineering application and theoretical development of the acoustic emission-based technology for detecting internal leakage in valves. Full article

This study explores the relationship between institutional shareholders and climate-related disclosure (CRD) and how sustainability committees influence this relationship among publicly listed Malaysian firms. For the analysis, 990 firm-year observations were studied from 198 highly polluting firms from 2021 to 2024. A strong CRD index was designed using the recognized climate reporting frameworks and well-grounded literature to assess the level of climate-related disclosure. Fixed-effects and hierarchical panel regression models show that CRD increases when institutional investor ownership increases, meaning firms with more institutional investors disclose more information on climate-related topics. In addition, a sustainability committee at the board level greatly improves this relationship by highlighting the positive impact of strong internal governance. As a result, such committees establish climate management and improve communication with investors, making the firm’s actions more transparent. The findings of this study are consistent with agency and legitimacy theories because institutional investors assist in monitoring firms’ environmental performance, and sustainability committees help the company maintain these standards internally. Further, this study helps grow the understanding of corporate governance (CG) and sustainability by pointing out that the presence of institutional owners and sustainability committees can promote openness about climate matters. Accordingly, these findings can guide policymakers, investors, and business leaders in boosting responsible environmental reporting and sustainable business practices in developing countries. Restructuring the Coupling Coordination Mechanism of the Economy–Energy–Environment (3E) System Under the Dual Carbon Emissions Control Policy—An Exploration Based on the “Triangular Trinity” Theoretical Framework

Against the backdrop of the profound restructuring in global climate governance, China’s energy management system is undergoing a comprehensive transition from dual energy consumption control to dual carbon emissions control. This policy shift fundamentally alters the underlying logic of energy-focused regulation and inevitably impacts the economy–energy–environment (3E) system. This study innovatively constructs a “Triangular Trinity” theoretical framework integrating internal, intermediate, and external triangular couplings, as well as providing a granular analysis of their transmission relationships and feedback mechanisms. Using Guangdong Province as a case study, this study takes the dual control emissions policy within the external triangle as an entry point to research the restructuring logic of dual carbon emissions control for the coupling coordination mechanisms of the 3E system. The key findings are as follows: (1) Policy efficacy evolution: During 2005–2016, dual energy consumption control significantly improved energy conservation and emissions reduction, elevating Guangdong’s 3E coupling coordination. Post 2017, however, its singular focus on total energy consumption revealed limitations, causing a decline in 3E coordination. Dual carbon emissions control demonstrably enhances 3E systemic synergy. (2) Decoupling dynamics: Dual carbon emissions control accelerates economic–carbon emission decoupling, while slowing economic–energy consumption decoupling. This created an elasticity space of 5.092 million tons of standard coal equivalent (sce) and reduced carbon emissions by 26.43 million tons, enabling high-quality economic development. (3) Mechanism reconstruction: By leveraging external triangular elements (energy-saving technologies and market mechanisms) to act on the energy subsystem, dual carbon emissions control leads to optimal solutions to the “Energy Trilemma”. This drives the systematic restructuring of the sustainability triangle, achieving high-order 3E coupling coordination. The Triangular Trinity framework constructed by us in the paper is an innovative attempt in relation to the theory of energy transition, providing a referenceable methodology for resolving the contradictions of the 3E system. The research results can provide theoretical support and practical reference for the low-carbon energy transition of provinces and cities with similar energy structures. Full article

This paper presents some of the most significant findings in the design of a hydraulic servomechanism for flight controls, which were primarily achieved by the first author during his activity in an aviation institute. These results are grouped into four main topics. The first one outlines a classical theory, from the 1950s–1970s, of the analysis of nonlinear automatic systems and namely the issue of absolute stability. The uninformed public may be misled by the adjective “absolute”. This is not a “maximalist” solution of stability but rather highlights in the system of equations a nonlinear function that describes, for the case of hydraulic servomechanisms, the flow-control dependence in the distributor spool. This function is odd, and it is therefore located in quadrants 1 and 3. The decision regarding stability is made within the so-called Lurie problem and is materialized by a matrix inequality, called the Lefschetz condition, which must be satisfied by the parameters of the electrohydraulic servomechanism and also by the components of the control feedback vector. Another approach starts from a classical theorem of V. M. Popov, extended in a stochastic framework by T. Morozan and I. Ursu, which ends with the description of the local and global spool valve flow-control characteristics that ensure stability in the large with respect to bounded perturbations for the mechano-hydraulic servomechanism. We add that a conjecture regarding the more pronounced flexibility of mathematical models in relation to mathematical instruments (theories) was used. Furthermore, the second topic concerns, the importance of the impedance characteristic of the mechano-hydraulic servomechanism in preventing flutter of the flight controls is emphasized. Impedance, also called dynamic stiffness, is defined as the ratio, in a dynamic regime, between the output exerted force (at the actuator rod of the servomechanism) and the displacement induced by this force under the assumption of a blocked input. It is demonstrated in the paper that there are two forms of the impedance function: one that favors the appearance of flutter and another that allows for flutter damping. It is interesting to note that these theoretical considerations were established in the institute’s reports some time before their introduction in the Aviation Regulation AvP.970. However, it was precisely the absence of the impedance criterion in the regulation at the appropriate time that ultimately led, by chance or not, to a disaster: the crash of a prototype due to tailplane flutter. A third topic shows how an important problem in the theory of automatic systems of the 1970s–1980s, namely the robust synthesis of the servomechanism, is formulated, applied and solved in the case of an electrohydraulic servomechanism. In general, the solution of a robust servomechanism problem consists of two distinct components: a servo-compensator, in fact an internal model of the exogenous dynamics, and a stabilizing compensator. These components are adapted in the case of an electrohydraulic servomechanism. In addition to the classical case mentioned above, a synthesis problem of an anti-windup (anti-saturation) compensator is formulated and solved. The fourth topic, and the last one presented in detail, is the synthesis of a fuzzy supervised neurocontrol (FSNC) for the position tracking of an electrohydraulic servomechanism, with experimental validation, in the laboratory, of this control law. The neurocontrol module is designed using a single-layered perceptron architecture. Neurocontrol is in principle optimal, but it is not free from saturation. To this end, in order to counteract saturation, a Mamdani-type fuzzy logic was developed, which takes control when neurocontrol has saturated. It returns to neurocontrol when it returns to normal, respectively, when saturation is eliminated. What distinguishes this FSNC law is its simplicity and efficiency and especially the fact that against quite a few opponents in the field, it still works very well on quite complicated physical systems. Finally, a brief section reviews some recent works by the authors, in which current approaches to hydraulic servomechanisms are presented: the backstepping control synthesis technique, input delay treated with Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals, and critical stability treated with Lyapunov–Malkin theory. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into educational environments is fundamentally transforming the learning process, raising new questions regarding student engagement and motivation. This empirical study investigates the relationship between AI-based learning support and the experience of flow, defined as the optimal state of deep attention and intrinsic motivation, among university students. Building on Csíkszentmihályi’s flow theory and current models of technology-enhanced learning, we applied a validated, purposefully developed AI questionnaire (AIFLQ) to 142 students from two Hungarian universities: the Ludovika University of Public Service and Eszterházy Károly Catholic University. The participants used generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT 4, SUNO) during their academic tasks. Based on the results of the Mann–Whitney U test, significant differences were found between students from the two universities in the immersion and balance factors, as well as in the overall flow score, while the AI-related factor showed no statistically significant differences. The sustainability of the flow experience appears to be linked more to pedagogical methodological factors than to institutional ones, highlighting the importance of instructional support in fostering optimal learning experiences. Demographic variables also influenced the flow experience. In gender comparisons, female students showed significantly higher values for the immersion factor. According to the Kruskal–Wallis test, educational attainment also affected the flow experience, with students holding higher education degrees achieving higher flow scores. Our findings suggest that through the conscious design of AI tools and learning environments, taking into account instructional support and learner characteristics, it is possible to promote the development of optimal learning states. This research provides empirical evidence at the intersection of AI and motivational psychology, contributing to both domestic and international discourse in educational psychology and digital pedagogy. Based on ecological systems theory, adolescents’ school climates can influence family interactions. In this study, it was tested whether associations between adolescents’ and parents’ perceptions of school climate in 7th grade (Wave 1) and adolescents’ later psychological functioning in 11th grade (Wave 4) were partially mediated by parental self-efficacy and parenting practices when the adolescents were in 8th grade (Wave 3). Path analyses were conducted in MPlus v. 7.4. Among 660 Black American families from the Maryland Adolescent Development in Context Study, adolescents’ positive perceptions of school climate were directly related to fewer internalizing and externalizing symptoms, higher resourcefulness, and higher self-esteem. Adolescents’ perceptions of school climate were also indirectly related to their externalizing symptoms through parent–adolescent communication and conflict. Adolescents who reported more positive school climates reported higher parent–adolescent communication and lower parent–adolescent conflict. Adolescents’ reports of school climate were also indirectly associated with self-esteem. Parents’ perceptions of school climate were not directly related to adolescents’ psychological functioning but were directly related to parental self-efficacy and parent–adolescent communication. They were also indirectly related to adolescents’ externalizing symptoms through parental self-efficacy. Parental self-efficacy was positively related to parent–adolescent communication and parents’ home-based school involvement. Overall, the findings highlight the role of school context in adolescents’ psychological functioning and family processes. Full article

Flexible inflatable film wings have many functional advantages that traditional fixed rigid wings do not possess, such as foldability, small size, light weight, convenient storage, transportation, and so on. More and more scholars and engineers are paying attention to flexible inflatable wings, which have gradually become a new hot research topic. However, flexible wings rely on inflation pressure to maintain the shape and rigidity of the skin film, and the inflation pressure has a significant influence on the strain deformation and wing bearing characteristics of flexible wing skin film. Here, based on the flexible mechanics theory and balance principle of flexible inflatable film, a theoretical model of structural deformation and internal inflation pressure was constructed, and finite element simulation analysis under different internal inflation pressure conditions was carried out as well. The results demonstrate that the biaxial deformation of flexible wing skin film is closely related to internal inflation pressure, local size, configuration, and film material properties. However, strain deformation along the wingspan direction is quite distinguishing, skin films work under the condition of biaxial plane deformation, and the strain deformation of the spanning direction is obviously higher than that of the chord direction, which all increases with internal inflation pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to bearing strain deformation characteristics to meet the bearing stiffness requirements, which could effectively provide a theoretical reference for the structural optimization design and inflation scheme setting of flexible inflatable wings.
