The Kuroshio Current’s flow velocity imposes exacting requirements on underwater vehicle propulsive systems. Ecological preservation necessitates low-noise propeller designs to mitigate operational disturbances. As technological evolution advances toward greater intelligence and system integration, intelligent unmanned systems are positioning themselves as a critical frontier in marine innovation. In recent years, the global research community has increased its efforts towards the development of high-maneuverability underwater vehicles. However, propeller design optimization ignores the key balance between acoustic performance and hydrodynamic efficiency, as well as the appropriate speed threshold for blade rotation. In order to solve this problem, the propeller design of the NACA 65A010 airfoil is optimized by using OpenProp v3.3.4 and XFlow 2022 software, aiming at innovating the propulsion system of shallow water agile submersibles. The study presents an integrated design framework combining lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) simulations synergized with fully Lagrangian-LES modeling, implementing rotational speed thresholds to detect cavitation inception, followed by advanced acoustic propagation analysis. Through rigorous comparative assessment of hydrodynamic metrics, we establish an optimization protocol for propeller selection tailored to littoral zone operational demands. Studies have shown that increasing the number of propeller blades can reduce the single-blade load and delay cavitation, but too many blades will aggravate the complexity of the flow field, resulting in reduced efficiency and noise rebound. It is concluded that the propeller with five blades, a diameter of 234 mm, and a speed of 500 RPM exhibits the best performance. Under these conditions, the water efficiency is 69.01%, and the noise is the lowest, which basically realizes the balance between hydrodynamic efficiency and acoustic performance. This paradigm-shifting research carries substantial implications for next-generation marine vehicles, particularly in optimizing operational stealth and energy efficiency through intelligent propulsion architecture. Research on reliability control for enhancing power systems under random loads holds significant and undeniable importance in maintaining system stability, performance, and safety. The primary challenge lies in determining the reliability index while optimizing system parameters. To effectively address this challenge, we developed a novel intelligent algorithm and conducted an optimal reliability assessment for a Negative Stiffness Device (NSD) seismic isolation structure incorporating fractional-order damping. This algorithm combines the Gaussian Radial Basis Function Neural Network (GRBFNN) with the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. It takes the reliability function with unknown parameters as the objective function, while using the Backward Kolmogorov (BK) equation, which governs the reliability function and is accompanied by boundary and initial conditions, as the constraint condition. During the operation of this algorithm, the neural network is employed to solve the BK equation, thereby deriving the fitness function in each iteration of the PSO algorithm. Then the PSO algorithm is utilized to obtain the optimal parameters. The unique advantage of this algorithm is its ability to simultaneously achieve the optimization of implicit objectives and the solution of time-dependent BK equations.To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, this study compared it with the algorithm combines the GRBFNN with Genetic Algorithm (GA-GRBFNN)across multiple dimensions, including performance and operational efficiency. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been validated through numerical comparisons and Monte Carlo simulations. The control strategy presented in this paper provides a solid theoretical foundation for improving the reliability performance of mechanical engineering systems and demonstrates significant potential for practical applications. The transition to efficient production requires innovative water control techniques to maximize irrigation efficiency and minimize waste. Analyzing and optimizing irrigation practices is essential to improve water use and reduce environmental impact. The aim of the research was to identify a discrimination method to analyze the different hydration levels in baby-leaf products. The species being researched was spinach, harvested at the baby leaf stage. Utilizing a large dataset of 261 wavelengths from the hyperspectral imaging system, the feature selection minimum redundancy maximum relevance (FS-MRMR) algorithm was applied, leading to the development of a neural network-based prediction model. Finally, a mathematical classification model K-NN (k-nearest neighbors type) was developed in order to identify a transfer function capable of discriminating the hyperspectral data based on a threshold value of absolute leaf humidity. Five significant wavelengths were identified for estimating the moisture content of baby leaves. The resulting model demonstrated a high generalization capability and excellent correlation between predicted and measured data, further confirmed by the successful training, validation, and testing of a K-NN-based statistical classifier. The construction phase of the statistical classifier involved the use of the experimental dataset and the critical humidity threshold value of 0.83 (83% of leaf humidity) was considered, below which the baby-leaf crop requires the irrigation intervention. High percentages of correct classification were achieved for data within two humidity classes. Specifically, the statistical classifier demonstrated excellent performance, with 81.3% correct classification for samples below the threshold and 99.4% for those above it. The application of advanced spectral analysis and artificial intelligence methods has led to significant progress in leaf moisture analysis and prediction, yielding substantial implications for both agriculture and biological research. The reliability of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) energy storage battery systems is critical for ensuring their safe operation and efficient mission execution, and has the potential to significantly advance applications in logistics, monitoring, and emergency response. This paper reviews theoretical and technical advancements in UAV battery reliability, covering definitions and metrics, modeling approaches, state estimation, fault diagnosis, and battery management system (BMS) technologies. Based on international standards, reliability encompasses performance stability, environmental adaptability, and safety redundancy, encompassing metrics such as the capacity retention rate, mean time between failures (MTBF), and thermal runaway warning time. Modeling methods for reliability include mathematical, data-driven, and hybrid models, which are evaluated for accuracy and efficiency under dynamic conditions. State estimation focuses on five key battery parameters and compares neural network, regression, and optimization algorithms in complex flight scenarios. Fault diagnosis involves feature extraction, time-series modeling, and probabilistic inference, with multimodal fusion strategies being proposed for faults like overcharge and thermal runaway. BMS technologies include state monitoring, protection, and optimization, and balancing strategies and the potential of intelligent algorithms are being explored. Challenges in this field include non-unified standards, limited model generalization, and complexity in diagnosing concurrent faults. Future research should prioritize multi-physics-coupled modeling, AI-driven predictive techniques, and cybersecurity to enhance the reliability and intelligence of battery systems in order to support the sustainable development of unmanned systems. Bruising in ‘Korla’ pears represents a prevalent phenomenon that leads to progressive fruit decay and substantial economic losses. The detection of early-stage bruising proves challenging due to the absence of visible external characteristics, and existing deep learning models have limitations in weak feature extraction under complex optical interference. To address the postharvest latent damage detection challenges in ‘Korla’ pears, this study proposes a collaborative detection framework integrating structured-illumination reflectance imaging (SIRI) with multi-order gated attention mechanisms. Initially, an SIRI optical system was constructed, employing 150 cycles·m−1 spatial frequency modulation and a three-phase demodulation algorithm to extract subtle interference signal variations, thereby generating RT (Relative Transmission) images with significantly enhanced contrast in subsurface damage regions. To improve the detection accuracy of latent damage areas, the MOGA-UNet model was developed with three key innovations: 1. Integrate the lightweight VGG16 encoder structure into the feature extraction network to improve computational efficiency while retaining details. 2. Add a multi-order gated aggregation module at the end of the encoder to realize the fusion of features at different scales through a special convolution method. 3. Embed the channel attention mechanism in the decoding stage to dynamically enhance the weight of feature channels related to damage. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves 94.38% mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) and 97.02% Dice coefficient on RT images, outperforming the baseline UNet model by 2.80% with superior segmentation accuracy and boundary localization capabilities compared with mainstream models. This approach provides an efficient and reliable technical solution for intelligent postharvest agricultural product sorting. Full article

Proton therapy has emerged as a highly precise and tissue-sparing radiotherapy technique, capitalizing on the unique energy deposition pattern of protons characterized by the Bragg peak. Ensuring treatment accuracy relies on calibration phantoms, often composed of tissue-equivalent polymeric materials. This study investigates the dosimetric behavior of four commonly used polymers—Parylene, Epoxy, Lexan, and Mylar—by analyzing their linear energy transfer (LET) values and Bragg curve characteristics across various proton energies. Experimental LET data were collected and used to train and evaluate the predictive power for Bragg peak of multiple artificial intelligence models, including kNN, SVR, MLP, RF, LWRF, XGBoost, 1D-CNN, LSTM, and BiLSTM. These algorithms were optimized using 10-fold cross-validation and assessed through statistical error and performance metrics including MAE, RAE, RMSE, RRSE, CC, and R2. Results demonstrate that certain AI models, particularly RF and LWRF, accurately (in terms of all evaluation metrics) predict Bragg peaks in Epoxy polymers, reducing the reliance on costly and time-consuming simulations. In terms of CC and R2 metrics, the LWRF model demonstrated superior performance, achieving scores of 0.9969 and 0.9938, respectively. However, when evaluated against MAE, RMSE, RAE, and RRSE metrics, the RF model emerged as the top performer, yielding values of 12.3161, 15.8223, 10.3536, and 11.4389, in the same order. Additionally, the SVR model achieved the highest number of statistically significant differences when compared pairwise with the other eight models, showing significance against six of them. The findings support the use of AI as a robust tool for designing reliable calibration phantoms and optimizing proton therapy planning. This integrative approach enhances the synergy between materials science, medical physics, and data-driven modeling in advanced radiotherapy systems. Full article

Driven by the rapid development of e-commerce and intelligent logistics, the volume of express delivery services has surged, making the efficient and accurate identification of shipping information a core requirement for automatic sorting systems. However, traditional Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology struggles to meet the accuracy and real-time demands of complex logistics scenarios due to challenges such as image distortion, uneven illumination, and field overlap. This paper proposes a three-level collaborative recognition method based on deep learning that facilitates structured information extraction through regional normalization, dual-path parallel extraction, and a dynamic matching mechanism. First, the geometric distortion associated with contour detection and the lightweight direction classification model has been improved. Second, by integrating the enhanced YOLOv5s for key area localization with the upgraded PaddleOCR for full-text character extraction, a dual-path parallel architecture for positioning and recognition has been constructed. Finally, a dynamic space–semantic joint matching module has been designed that incorporates anti-offset IoU metrics and hierarchical semantic regularization constraints, thereby enhancing matching robustness through density-adaptive weight adjustment. Experimental results indicate that the accuracy of this method on a self-constructed dataset is 89.5%, with an F1 score of 90.1%, representing a 24.2% improvement over traditional OCR methods. The dynamic matching mechanism elevates the average accuracy of YOLOv5s from 78.5% to 89.7%, surpassing the Faster R-CNN benchmark model while maintaining a real-time processing efficiency of 76 FPS. This study offers a lightweight and highly robust solution for the efficient extraction of order information in complex logistics scenarios, significantly advancing the intelligent upgrading of sorting systems. Forest fire detection is an essential application in environmental surveillance since wildfires cause devastating damage to ecosystems, human life, and property every year. The effective and accurate detection of fire is necessary to allow for timely response and efficient management of disasters. Traditional techniques for fire detection often experience false alarms and delayed responses in various environmental situations. Therefore, developing robust, intelligent, and real-time detection systems has emerged as a central challenge in remote sensing and computer vision research communities. Despite recent achievements in deep learning, current forest fire detection models still face issues with generalizability, lightweight deployment, and accuracy trade-offs. In order to overcome these limitations, we introduce a novel technique (FireNet-KD) that makes use of knowledge distillation, a method that maps the learning of hard models (teachers) to a light and efficient model (student). We specifically utilize two opposing teacher networks: a Vision Transformer (ViT), which is popular for its global attention and contextual learning ability, and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which is esteemed for its spatial locality and inductive biases. These teacher models instruct the learning of a Swin Transformer-based student model that provides hierarchical feature extraction and computational efficiency through shifted window self-attention, and is thus particularly well suited for scalable forest fire detection. By combining the strengths of ViT and CNN with distillation into the Swin Transformer, the FireNet-KD model outperforms state-of-the-art methods with significant improvements. Experimental results show that the FireNet-KD model obtains a precision of 95.16%, recall of 99.61%, F1-score of 97.34%, and mAP@50 of 97.31%, outperforming the existing models. These results prove the effectiveness of FireNet-KD in improving both detection accuracy and model efficiency for forest fire detection. Full article

The electromechanical braking (EMB) system is an important component of intelligent vehicles and is also the core actuator for longitudinal dynamic control in autonomous driving motion control. Therefore, we propose a new mechanism layout form for EMB and a feedforward second-order linear active disturbance rejection controller based on clamping force. This solves the problem of excessive axial distance in traditional EMB and reduces the axial distance by 30%, while concentrating the PCB control board for the wheels on the EMB housing. This enables the ABS and ESP functions to be integrated into the EMB system, further enhancing the integration of line control and active safety functions. A feedforward second-order linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) based on the clamping force of the brake caliper is proposed. Compared with the traditional clamping force control methods three-loop PID and adaptive fuzzy PID, it improves the response speed, steady-state error, and anti-interference ability. Moreover, the LADRC has more advantages in parameter adjustment. Simulation results show that the response speed is increased by 130 ms, the overshoot is reduced by 9.85%, and the anti-interference ability is increased by 41.2%. Finally, the feasibility of this control algorithm was verified through the EMB hardware-in-the-loop test bench. Full article

Intelligent transport systems are revolutionising all aspects of modern life, increasing the efficiency of commerce, modern living, and international travel. Intelligent transport systems are systems of systems comprised of cyber, physical, and social nodes. They represent unique opportunities but also have potential threats to system operation and correctness. The emergent behaviour in Complex Cyber–Physical–Social Systems (C-CPSSs), caused by events such as cyber-attacks and network outages, have the potential to have devastating effects to critical services across society. It is therefore imperative that the risk of cascading failure is minimised through the fortifying of these systems of systems to achieve resilient mission assurance. This work designs and implements a programmatic model to validate the value of cascading failure simulation and analysis, which is then tested against a C-CPSS intelligent transport system scenario. Results from the model and its implementations highlight the value in identifying both critical nodes and percolation of consequences during a cyber failure, in addition to the importance of including social nodes in models for accurate simulation results. Understanding the relationships between cyber, physical, and social nodes is key to understanding systems’ failures that occur because of or that involve cyber systems, in order to achieve cyber and system resilience. Mathematical modeling plays a crucial role in supporting decision-making across a wide range of scientific disciplines. These models often involve multiple parameters, the estimation of which is critical to assessing their reliability and predictive power. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence have made it possible to efficiently estimate such parameters with high accuracy. In this study, we focus on modeling the dynamics of cryptocurrency market shares by employing a Lotka–Volterra system. We introduce a methodology based on a deep neural network (DNN) to estimate the parameters of the Lotka–Volterra model, which are subsequently used to numerically solve the system using a fourth-order Runge–Kutta method. The proposed approach, when applied to real-world market share data for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and alternative cryptocurrencies, demonstrates excellent alignment with empirical observations. Our method achieves RMSEs of 0.0687 (BTC), 0.0268 (ETH), and 0.0558 (ALTs)—an over 50% reduction in error relative to ARIMA(2,1,2) and over 25% relative to a standard NN–ODE model—thereby underscoring its effectiveness for cryptocurrency-market forecasting. The entire framework, including neural network training and Runge–Kutta integration, was implemented in MATLAB R2024a (version 24.1). Full article

In order to meet the needs for the rapid detection of crop growth and support variable management in farmland, an intelligent chlorophyll content in cotton leaves (CCC) detection system based on hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology was designed and developed. The system includes a near-infrared (NIR) hyperspectral image acquisition module, a spectral extraction module, a main control processor module, a model acceleration module, a display module, and a power module, which are used to achieve rapid and non-destructive detection of chlorophyll content. Firstly, spectral images of cotton canopy leaves during the seedling, budding, and flowering-boll stages were collected, and the dataset was optimized using the first-order differential algorithm (1D) and Savitzky–Golay five-term quadratic smoothing (SG) algorithm. The results showed that SG had better processing performance. Secondly, the sparrow search algorithm optimized backpropagation neural network (SSA-BPNN) and one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN) algorithms were selected to establish a chlorophyll content detection model. The results showed that the determination coefficients Rp2 of the chlorophyll SG-1DCNN detection model during the seedling, budding, and flowering-boll stages were 0.92, 0.97, and 0.95, respectively, and the model performance was superior to SG-SSA-BPNN. Therefore, the SG-1DCNN model was embedded into the detection system. Finally, a CCC intelligent detection system was developed using Python 3.12.3, MATLAB 2020b, and ENVI, and the system was subjected to application testing. The results showed that the average detection accuracy of the CCC intelligent detection system in the three stages was 98.522%, 99.132%, and 97.449%, respectively. Meanwhile, the average detection time for the samples is only 20.12 s. The research results can effectively solve the problem of detecting the nutritional status of cotton in the field environment, meet the real-time detection needs of the field environment, and provide solutions and technical support for the intelligent perception of crop production. Real-time train rescheduling is a widely used strategy to minimize knock-on delays in railway networks. While recent research has introduced intelligent solutions to railway traffic management, the tight interdependence of train timetables and the intrinsic complexity of railway networks have hindered the scalability of these approaches to large-scale systems. This paper proposes a multi-agent system (MAS) that addresses these challenges by decomposing the network into single-junction levels, significantly reducing the search space for real-time rescheduling. The MAS employs a Condorcet voting-based collaborative approach to ensure global feasibility and prevent overly localized optimization by individual junction agents. This decentralized approach enhances both the quality and scalability of train rescheduling solutions. We tested the MAS on a railway network in the UK and compared its performance with the First-Come-First-Served (FCFS) and Timetable Order Enforced (TTOE) routing methods. The computational results show that the MAS significantly outperforms FCFS and TTOE in the tested scenarios, yielding up to a 34.11% increase in network capacity as measured by the defined objective function, thus improving network line capacity. Objectives: With the development of artificial intelligence technology in medicine, an intelligent deep learning-based embryo scoring system (iDAScore) has been developed on full-time lapse sequences of embryos. It automatically ranks embryos according to the likelihood of achieving a fetal heartbeat with no manual input from embryologists. To ensure its performance, external validation studies should be performed at multiple clinics. Methods: A total of 6291 single vitrified–thawed blastocyst transfer cycles from 2018 to 2021 at the Reproductive Medicine Center, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology were retrospectively analyzed by the iDAScore model. Patients with two or more blastocysts transferred and blastocysts that were not cultured in a time-lapse incubator were excluded. Blastocysts were divided into four comparably sized groups by first sorting their iDAScore values in ascending order and then compared with the clinical, perinatal, and neonatal outcomes. Results: Our results showed that clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth significantly correlated with iDAScore (p < 0.001). For perinatal and neonatal outcomes, no significant difference was shown in four iDAScore groups, except sex ratio. Uni- and multivariable logistic regressions showed that iDAScore was significantly positively correlated with live birth rate (p < 0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, the objective ranking can prioritize embryos reliably and rapidly for transfer, which could allow embryologists more time for processes requiring hands-on procedures. Quantitative Assessment of Flood Risk Through Multi Parameter Morphometric Analysis and GeoAI: A GIS-Based Study of Wadi Ranuna Basin in Saudi Arabia

The integration of traditional geomorphological approaches with advanced artificial intelligence techniques represents a promising frontier in flood risk assessment for arid regions. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the Wadi Ranuna basin in Medina, Saudi Arabia, combining detailed morphometric parameters with advanced Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) algorithms to enhance flood susceptibility modeling. Using digital elevation models (DEMs) and geographic information systems (GISs), we extracted 23 morphometric parameters across 67 sub-basins and applied XGBoost, Random Forest, and Gradient Boosting (GB) models to predict both continuous flood susceptibility indices and binary flood occurrences. The machine learning models utilize morphometric parameters as input features to capture complex non-linear interactions, including threshold-dependent relationships where the stream frequency impact intensifies above 3.0 streams/km2, and the compound effects between the drainage density and relief ratio. The analysis revealed that the basin covers an area of 188.18 km2 with a perimeter of 101.71 km and contains 610 streams across six orders. The basin exhibits an elongated shape with a form factor of 0.17 and circularity ratio of 0.23, indicating natural flood-moderating characteristics. GB emerged as the best-performing model, achieving an RMSE of 6.50 and an R2 value of 0.9212. Model validation through multi-source approaches, including field verification at 35 locations, achieved 78% spatial correspondence with documented flood events and 94% accuracy for very high susceptibility areas. SHAP analysis identified the stream frequency, overland flow length, and drainage texture as the most influential predictors of flood susceptibility. K-Means clustering uncovered three morphometrically distinct zones, with Cluster 1 exhibiting the highest flood risk potential. Spatial analysis revealed 67% of existing infrastructure was located within high-risk zones, with 23 km of major roads and eight critical facilities positioned in flood-prone areas. The spatial distribution of GBM-predicted flood susceptibility identified high-risk zones predominantly in the central and southern parts of the basin, covering 12.3% (23.1 km2) of the total area. This integrated approach provides quantitative evidence for informed watershed management decisions and demonstrates the effectiveness of combining traditional morphometric analysis with advanced machine learning techniques for enhanced flood risk assessment in arid regions.
