This work presents the design and validation of a redundant, low-jitter clock architecture for White Rabbit (WR) Switches, developed to meet the growing demand for sub-nanosecond synchronization in distributed scientific and industrial systems. WR relies on two high-purity clock signals (125 MHz and 124.992 MHz) to perform picosecond-resolution phase measurements using the DDMTD method; therefore, clock quality directly determines synchronization accuracy. The proposed architecture introduces a dual-path oscillator subsystem combining two independent low-phase-noise crystal oscillators with a secondary VCXO-based synthesizer, enabling deterministic automatic failover and eliminating the PLL-based frequency-generation stage used in legacy designs. Advanced signal- and power-integrity simulations were employed to optimize impedance control, PDN performance, and crosstalk behavior across the multilayer PCB. Measurements on the prototype demonstrate a reduction in integrated jitter from approximately 300 ps in previous implementations to 35–55 ps in the primary path, while failover events exhibit a worst-case switchover time of 10 µs and a maximum phase hit below 150 ps. These results confirm that the redesigned architecture significantly enhances synchronization robustness and clock stability, providing a reliable foundation for large-scale deployments in high-energy physics, telecommunications, industrial automation, and other domains requiring ultra-precise timing. Driven by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, the demand for high-bandwidth and energy-efficient die-to-die (D2D) wireline communication has significantly increased. The article presents an original lumped-parameter model for the analysis of ultra-short-reach (USR) channels in D2D links. The model leads to a length-dependent crosstalk theory showing that the far-end crosstalk (FEXT) and near-end crosstalk (NEXT) exhibit approximately identical waveform amplitudes and pulse widths, differing only in polarity. Based on the property, a 32 Gb/s single-ended transmitter (TX) incorporating a TX-based-only adaptive crosstalk cancellation (XTC) scheme is presented. The proposed scheme eliminates receiver-side FEXT sensing, thereby simplifying calibration logic and reducing power consumption. Implemented in 28 nm CMOS, post-layout simulations demonstrate an energy efficiency of 0.41 pJ/bit at 32 Gb/s and more than 60% reduction in crosstalk-induced jitter (CIJ) across channel lengths of 0.5–2 mm and pitches of 5–20 µm. Mitochondria play essential roles in cellular metabolism and signaling, regulating biosynthetic pathways, calcium homeostasis, redox balance, and cell fate beyond ATP production. Their continual remodeling through fusion, fission, and mitophagy maintains mitochondrial quality control and adapts organelle function to cellular demands. Here, we review how mitochondrial dynamics, fusion, fission, and mitophagy modulate metabolic reprogramming and signaling to drive cancer progression and therapy resistance. Emerging evidence indicates that in cancer, mitochondrial fusion enhances respiratory efficiency and oxidative phosphorylation, whereas fission promotes glycolytic adaptation, rapid biomass accumulation, and stress tolerance. Mitophagy further refines metabolic fitness by eliminating damaged mitochondria and sustaining redox homeostasis. Together, these processes underscore that dysregulation of mitochondrial dynamics is a hallmark of cancer and a key driver of metabolic reprogramming and therapeutic resistance. In this review, we summarize how mitochondrial fusion, fission, and mitophagy govern metabolic circuitry in cancer development and therapy resistance. We highlight their functional impact on tumor progression and discuss emerging therapeutic strategies targeting mitochondrial dynamics and associated machinery. Understanding this dynamic metabolic crosstalk may reveal new vulnerabilities and guide the development of mitochondria-targeted cancer therapies. Full article

To circumvent the prohibitive cost of large-format infrared focal plane arrays and the significant spatial–spectral mismatch caused by spectral smile in conventional long-slit configurations, this work develops a low-cost short-wave infrared (SWIR, 1000–2500 nm) hyperspectral imaging system utilizing digital micromirror device (DMD) scanning paired with a single-element detector. A comprehensive analytical model for a prism–reflection grating (P-RG) compound dispersive element is established, enabling the joint optimization of the prism apex angle and grating period to achieve quantitative compensation of spectral distortion across the entire waveband. Based on this model, the optical system is integrated and optimized, while a centroid localization algorithm is implemented to facilitate online calibration of model parameters and real-time reconstruction of the hyperspectral data cube at the DMD plane. Experimental results demonstrate that both smile and keystone distortions are suppressed below 5μm throughout the 1000–2500 nm range, which is superior to the single DMD pixel pitch of 7.6μm. The full-field modulation transfer function (MTF) at the Nyquist frequency (32.9 lp/mm) exceeds 0.7, approaching the diffraction limit. Characterization confirms that the system provides 510 spectral channels with an average resolution of 3.57 nm and a spatial resolution of 2.5 μm. By effectively eliminating spectral overlap and cross-column crosstalk on the DMD encoding surface, this system provides a high-fidelity optical front-end for single-pixel imaging, offering a viable technical pathway for the development of affordable SWIR hyperspectral instrumentation. Continuous-spectrum illumination induces severe channel crosstalk and resolution degradation in color imaging systems. To address this issue, this paper introduces near-monochromatic LED illumination matched to the lens design wavelength and proposes a linear crosstalk correction method based on CCD intensity superposition. Experiments under ISO 12233 evaluation reveal that mixed-color LED illumination only enhances the blue channel, while separate monochromatic illumination and image synthesis effectively eliminate crosstalk and boost overall resolution. The proposed linear method calibrates crosstalk coefficients via a standard reference area to correct single-shot mixed-color images, bringing R/B channels close to pure monochromatic performance, with minor over-sharpening in the green channel. This approach provides a feasible linear correction solution to suppress crosstalk and improve resolution for single-shot industrial color imaging with near-monochromatic LED illumination. All-optical logic gates have emerged as a critical technology for enabling broadband, low-loss, and high-speed communication systems, addressing the inherent bandwidth limitations of electronic counterparts. Here, we propose a Y-shaped structure leveraging unidirectional modes in the terahertz regime, which enables the realization of multifunctional all-optical logic gates within the lower- and upper-frequency bandwidth regions, including, but not limited to, AND, OR, NOT, and XNOR gates. Numerical simulations and theoretical analyses confirm that the proposed logic gates exhibit robust one-way propagation characteristics, with electromagnetic signals demonstrating complete immunity to backscattering even in the presence of structural defects. Furthermore, nonlocal effects are found to have a negligible impact on the operational bandwidths of our design. Building upon this Y-shaped configuration, we further develop an all-optical digital logic system (AODLS) capable of supporting bifrequency multi-input and multi-output logic operations. When lower- and upper-frequency signals are injected into separate input ports, their corresponding output signals remain fully independent, eliminating cross-talk and enabling true parallel computation. This dual-band parallel processing capability represents a significant advance over conventional single-band all-optical logic systems, opening new avenues for high-throughput all-optical computing and integrated photonic circuits. Polarimetric high-resolution range profiles (HRRPs) contain rich amplitude and phase information scattered from targets, making them essential for radar remote sensing applications. However, current HRRP imaging methods still face challenges in achieving precise full-polarization measurements. In addition, they are either affected by off-grid errors thus introducing spurious scattering centers (SCs), fail to utilize polarimetric priors from the channels, or encounter high computational complexity. Some of these issues limit the quality of polarimetric HRRPs, while others result in excessive computational load, hindering their application on orbital remote sensing platforms. This paper proposes a fast gridless polarimetric HRRP imaging method. First, we introduce the novel virtual full polarization sparse stepped-frequency waveforms (VFP-SSFW) to improve channel isolation, in which each pulse is transmitted with either horizontal (H) or vertical (V) polarization, selected uniformly at random. Then, we propose a polarimetric atomic norm minimization (P-ANM)-based imaging framework formulated within distributed compressed sensing (DCS), which fully exploits the joint sparsity across polarization channels while inherently eliminating off-grid errors. Additionally, we develop a fast algorithm based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to enable efficient implementation. The proposed method can circumvent transmission channel crosstalk and can efficiently yield high-quality polarimetric HRRPs with co-registered SCs. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulated, electromagnetic, and measured experimental results. Full article

Endothelial dysfunction, chronic inflammation, immune dysregulation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and metabolic disturbances collectively contribute to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) associated with blood stasis patterns. Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction (XFZYD) is widely used clinically for the management of CVDs. Based on serum-exposed prototype profiling in rats, two pharmacology-driven core component sets of XFZYD were defined as the core set for the promotion of blood circulation and the elimination of blood stasis (CPBEB; HSYA, GRo, FA, β-ECD, AMY, ALB, PF) and the core set for the regulation of qi and the relief of pain (CRQRP; LIQ, NR, NAR, ROF, HSD, NHP, LTG, NRG, ISL, FNT, NOB, PD, SSa). CPBEB primarily targets vascular pathology by regulating endothelial dysfunction with dyslipidemia-driven arterial lipid deposition. Mechanistically, CPBEB is associated with improved endothelial function, reduced plaque instability, attenuated chronic inflammation and oxidative stress, normalized lipid and bile acid metabolism, and decreased thrombosis. CRQRP primarily modulates vascular tone and systemic energy metabolism. These effects are linked to enhanced AMPK/SIRT1-driven antioxidant defenses and mitochondrial homeostasis, increased NO/cGMP signaling, coordinated crosstalk among the TLR4/NF-κB, JAK/STAT, NLRP3, and PPAR pathways, and remodeling of the gut microbiota–immune network. In summary, this review integrates modern analytical approaches with network pharmacology and the literature evidence to clarify the material basis underlying XFZYD’s therapeutic effects in CVDs, thereby supporting the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine. The clinical renaissance of psychedelic medicine has highlighted the therapeutic potential of rapid-acting neuroplastogens, or “psychoplastogens,” for psychiatric disorders. However, the widespread application of classical psychedelics—such as psilocybin and LSD—and the atypical dissociative ibogaine is severely limited by their hallucinogenic properties and, particularly in the case of ibogaine, life-threatening cardiotoxicity. Addressing these limitations, Tabernanthalog (TBG) has emerged as a frontrunner in the field. This non-hallucinogenic analog of ibogaine was rationally designed to eliminate interactions with the human ether-à-go-go-related gene (hERG, KCNH2) potassium channel, thereby mitigating cardiotoxic risks. While initially characterized for its anti-addictive and antidepressant-like properties, recent data from 2024–2025 have significantly expanded its therapeutic horizon. TBG demonstrates robust efficacy in preclinical models of neuropathic and visceral pain, as well as in the rescue of cognitive deficits associated with cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI). TBG has shown efficacy in reversing cognitive impairments induced directly by the presence of a tumor in preclinical models, rather than by chemotherapy-specific neurotoxicity. Crucially, emerging evidence suggests that TBG’s mechanism extends beyond simple 5-HT2A receptor agonism. New findings point to a multi-target profile involving the inhibition of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), positive modulation of NMDA receptors, and functional crosstalk with mGlu2 receptors. Furthermore, TBG appears to induce structural neuroplasticity without the widespread induction of immediate early genes (IEGs) seen with classical hallucinogens, suggesting a decoupling of therapeutic rewiring from the subjective psychedelic experience. This review synthesizes current preclinical evidence to discuss TBG as a promising chemical scaffold for next-generation neurotherapeutics targeting the intersection of psychiatry and neurology. Autophagy and paraptosis are two distinct physiological mechanisms involved in regulating cell fate in cancer. Recent studies have demonstrated that autophagy is a crucial process for maintaining cellular homeostasis by facilitating the removal of misfolded proteins and damaged organelles. However, autophagy is found to play a dual role in cancer. Severe ER and mitochondrial dysfunction can trigger different forms of programmed cell death, including autophagic cell death. In cancer cells that evade apoptosis, paraptosis, a caspase-independent alternate death pathway, is triggered by ER and mitochondrial swelling, leading to extensive cytoplasmic vacuolation. It can be induced by natural compounds, metallic complexes, nanoparticles, or chemotherapeutic agents, primarily through excessive ROS production and disruption of protein, thiol, and calcium/ion homeostasis. Autophagy and paraptosis have been found to be connected through crosstalk. While MAPK activation drives paraptosis, ER stress and the unfolded protein response (UPR) can initiate both paraptosis and autophagy. UPR-mediated PERK activation promotes survival autophagy in ER-stressed melanoma, whereas PERK elimination triggers paraptosis via sec61β with unresolved ER stress. Similarly, CHOP and DDIT4 can enhance ER stress and proteotoxicity, thereby favouring paraptosis. This review is unique in exploring the dynamic interplay between autophagy and paraptosis in cancer cells, highlighting promising therapeutic targets for chemotherapy-resistant cancers. Full article

Because prostate cancer proliferates in an androgen-dependent manner, various inhibitors of androgen production and antagonists of the androgen receptor (AR) are used as therapeutic agents. However, the emergence of castration-resistant prostate cancer has prompted the development of additional treatment strategies. In this study, we focused on the antiprostate cancer effects of vitamin D3 and examined novel antiproliferative effects through the crosstalk with androgen signaling. In human prostate cancer LNCaP cells, homeobox C9 (HOXC9) was identified as a common regulated target gene by dihydroxytestosterone and 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, but in opposite directions. Ligand-stimulated AR and vitamin D receptor competitively shared binding sites in the HOXC9 regulatory region, but dihydroxytestosterone stimulation preferentially suppressed HOXC9 expression due to the stronger binding properties of AR and the induction of DNA methylation. Forced expression of HOXC9 inhibited androgen signaling to eliminate the androgen-dependent proliferation by associating with the AR transcription complex, in part due to interference with AR binding to some of its targets in LNCaP cells. In summary, this study provides evidence for the involvement of HOXC9 in antiproliferative effects through a regulatory mechanism mediated by a crosstalk between vitamin D receptor and AR. Ovarian cancer remains a top mortality contributor within gynecological cancers because patients receive diagnoses late in the disease course and conventional treatment resistance along with high recurrence rates cause poor outcomes. Aberrant regulation of autophagy and apoptosis has a critical role in the development, progression, chemoresistance, and immune escape from ovarian cancer. Recent evidence has demonstrated a complicated and dynamic crosstalk between autophagy and apoptosis, during which autophagy can act as a cytoprotective or cell death-promoting process depending on tumor stage and therapeutic context. In parallel, apoptosis functions as a tightly regulated form of programmed cell death that is essential for eliminating damaged or malignant cells and serves as a major tumor-suppressive mechanism in ovarian cancer. The PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway is the most active and clinically relevant pathway in the management of ovarian cancer as a master regulator of both autophagy and apoptosis, suppressing apoptotic cell death while promoting cytoprotective autophagy under chemotherapeutic stress. Bioactive natural products derived from plants, marine sources, and dietary intake have emerged as potential modulators of the autophagy-apoptosis crosstalk. Curcumin, resveratrol, quercetin, berberine, and epigallocatechin gallate are known to have the ability to restore apoptotic signaling, block pro-survival autophagy, and sensitize ovarian cancer cells to chemotherapy through the regulation of key pathways including PI3K/AKT/mTOR, AMPK, MAPK, p53, and Bcl-2 family proteins. In this review, we provide an updated understanding of the molecular mechanisms through which bioactive natural products modulate autophagy–apoptosis crosstalk in ovarian cancer. We also highlight the translational challenges, therapeutic potential, and future directions for the integration of natural product-based strategies in precision medicine for ovarian cancer. This paper proposes a compact polarimetric CTLR mode calibration method using only two dihedral reflectors. The method leverages the property that the dihedral scattering matrix is unaffected by double-pass Faraday rotation, effectively eliminating the interference of Faraday rotation on distortion parameter estimation. By selecting any two from four dihedral reflectors rotated at 0°, 22.5°, 45°, and 67.5°, the system distortion parameters can be estimated. To resolve the two-fold solution ambiguity inherent in the estimation process, two ambiguity elimination methods are proposed: Method I selects the solution with equivalent crosstalk magnitude less than 0 dB based on the prior knowledge that the transmit antenna is dominated by right-hand circular polarization; Method II employs cross-validation using different dihedral combinations with distinct product constants, applicable when the prior knowledge does not hold. Through simulation analysis, the algorithm’s sensitivity to receive crosstalk levels, signal-to-noise ratio, and polarization orientation angle shift is evaluated. The results demonstrate that to maintain residual receive imbalance amplitude within ±1 dB, phase within ±10°, and residual equivalent crosstalk below −30 dB, the system received crosstalk must be lower than −25 dB, the signal-to-noise ratio must exceed 35 dB, and polarization orientation angle shift should be controlled within ±1°. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated using fully polarimetric calibrated GaoFen-3 satellite data, achieving root mean square errors of 0.10 dB, 1.13°, and 0.42 dB for amplitude imbalance, phase imbalance, and equivalent crosstalk amplitude, respectively. Comparative analysis demonstrates that the proposed method achieves significantly higher calibration accuracy than existing approaches, with substantial improvements in parameter estimation precision. To develop a full-color laser virtual reality head-mounted display (VR-HMD), a white laser light source, obtained by overlapping red–green–blue (RGB) lasers, is necessary. Although many studies on VR-HMD incorporating RGB lasers have been performed, there have been no studies on the removal of interferences such as electric field synthesis generated among the laser beams irradiated at a sample, namely “polarization crosstalk removal”. Therefore, the developing methods for electric field control are crucial. In this study, an attempt has been made to build a function that avoids crosstalk among the RGB beams after the irradiation of samples by separating them in time using the “time-shift” technique. If this function is realized, negative influences such as electric field synthesis can be eliminated. Consequently, the fabrication of the polarization-adjustable VR-HMD is expected in the future. Despite the digital era and the emergence of simplified production paradigms enabled by digital twin technology, traditional manufacturing processes like lathe machining are invaluable because of their ability to meet various and multiple needs reliably and flexibly. To combine these processes into smart monitoring and control systems, including tool wear detection and fault diagnosis, precise multi-axis force measurement is necessary. Single-axis sensors are insufficient to measure the entire dynamics of cutting interactions. A new idea based on strain gauge technology for a self-decoupled three-axis force sensor is proposed in this paper, which aims to measure cutting forces and vibration in a lathe operation. During the cutting process, the sensor is designed to independently recognize the onset of forces at three orthogonal axes to enhance real-time process monitoring capabilities. The Timoshenko beam theory is used to design the mechanical structure, where sensitivity could be improved with minimal crosstalk. Finite element analysis (FEA) simulations were conducted to evaluate the sensor’s performance, stress distribution, modal assessments, and interference error. The interference error of 0.31 percent indicated by the results of the simulation is extremely low, indicating a successful decoupling of the force components. These encouraging simulation results indicate that there is a high possibility of applying the proposed sensor design to intelligent manufacturing systems. It presents an initial point of departure into the embodiment of sophisticated monitoring platforms for conventional machining processes, eliminating the discontinuity between old and new smart manufacturing systems.
