A Contrastive Representation Learning Method for Event Classification in Φ-OTDR Systems

The phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry (Φ-OTDR) system has shown substantial potential in distributed acoustic sensing applications. Accurate event classification is crucial for effective deployment of Φ-OTDR systems, and various methods have been proposed for event classification in Φ-OTDR systems. However, most existing methods typically rely on sufficient labeled signal data for model training, which poses a major bottleneck in applying these methods due to the expensive and laborious process of labeling extensive data. To address this limitation, we propose CLWTNet, a novel contrastive representation learning method enhanced with wavelet transform convolution for event classification in Φ-OTDR systems. CLWTNet learns robust and discriminative representations directly from unlabeled signal data by transforming time-domain signals into STFT images and employing contrastive learning to maximize inter-class separation while preserving intra-class similarity. Furthermore, CLWTNet incorporates wavelet transform convolution to enhance its capacity to capture intricate features of event signals. The experimental results demonstrate that CLWTNet achieves competitive performance with the supervised representation learning methods and superior performance to unsupervised representation learning methods, even when training with unlabeled signal data. These findings highlight the effectiveness of CLWTNet in extracting discriminative representations without relying on labeled data, thereby enhancing data efficiency and reducing the costs and effort involved in extensive data labeling in practical Φ-OTDR system applications. The recent discovery of TIGR-Tas (Tandem Interspaced Guide RNA-Targeting Systems) marks a major advance in the field of genome editing, introducing a new class of compact, programmable DNA-targeting systems that function independently of traditional CRISPR-Cas pathways. TIGR-Tas effectors use a novel dual-spacer guide RNA (tigRNA) to recognize both strands of target DNA without requiring a protospacer adjacent motif (PAM). These Tas proteins introduce double-stranded DNA cuts with characteristic 8-nucleotide 3′ overhangs and are significantly smaller than Cas9, offering delivery advantages for in vivo editing. Structural analyses reveal homology to box C/D snoRNP proteins, suggesting a previously unrecognized evolutionary lineage of RNA-guided nucleases. This review positions TIGR-Tas at the forefront of a new wave of RNA-programmable genome-editing technologies. In parallel, I provide comparative insight into the diverse and increasingly modular CRISPR-Cas systems, including Cas9, Cas12, Cas13, and emerging effectors like Cas3, Cas10, CasΦ, and Cas14. While the CRISPR-Cas universe has revolutionized molecular biology, TIGR-Tas systems open a complementary and potentially more versatile path for programmable genome manipulation. I discuss mechanistic distinctions, evolutionary implications, and potential applications in human cells, synthetic biology, and therapeutic genome engineering. Full article

In this article, we introduce and study a novel class of polynomial φ-contractions, which simultaneously generalizes classical polynomial contractions and φ-contractions within a unified framework. We establish generalized fixed point theorems that encompass some results in the existing literature. Furthermore, we derive explicit error estimates and convergence rates for the associated Picard iteration, providing practical insights into the speed of convergence. Several illustrative examples, including higher-degree polynomial contractions, demonstrate the scope and applicability of our results. As an application, we prove existence and uniqueness results for solutions of a class of fractional logistic growth equations, highlighting the relevance of our theoretical contributions to nonlinear analysis and applied mathematics. Background: Vietnam has made significant strides in reducing the prevalence of HIV infection and achievements in its antiretroviral treatment program. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and financial challenges in the healthcare system have posed significant obstacles to maintaining effective HIV treatment and monitoring, particularly among vulnerable populations. This study aims to evaluate the situation of HIV drug resistance among patients who have experienced treatment failure in the Mekong Delta region and to compare data from 2019 to 2022. Methods: The study material was blood plasma samples from HIV-infected individuals with ART failure: 316 collected in 2019 and 326 collected in 2022. HIV-1 genotyping and mutation detection were performed based on an analysis of the nucleotide sequences of the Pol gene region. A total of 116 HIV-infected individuals with virological failure in 2019 and 2022 were assessed for HIV drug resistance. Results: The study revealed a high proportion of participants with viral loads exceeding 1000 copies/mL, significantly increasing from 12.0% in 2019 to 23.9% in 2022 (OR = 2.3; p = 0.0001). HIV drug resistance mutations were detected in 84.21% of cases in 2019 and 92.59% in 2022. The prevalence of concurrent resistance to NRTIs and NNRTIs was 37.5% and 30.13% in 2019 and 2022, respectively. There was a statistically significant decrease in NNRTI resistance (OR = 0.32, χ2 = 5.43, p < 0.05). In contrast, multi-drug resistance to protease inhibitors rose from 18.52% to 45.21% (φ* = 0.00403, p < 0.05). Triple-class resistance was identified only in 2022 (17.81%). The most common mutations included M184I/V, D67N, K103N, Y181C, and V82A/S/T, with D67N rising significantly from 3.13% to 21.92%. The predominant subtype was CRF01_AE. Conclusion: A high prevalence of viral non-suppression and HIV drug resistance was observed among patients in the Mekong Delta region, particularly after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study highlights the ongoing challenges that the HIV/AIDS treatment program in Vietnam must address in the post-pandemic period to sustain its success and achieve the goals of the country’s HIV prevention strategies. This study investigates solutions of a class of boundary value problems involving the Φ-Caputo fractional derivative and the p-Laplacian operator. Through the application of fixed-point theory, we confirm the existence and uniqueness of solutions to nonlinear Φ-Caputo fractional differential equations with the p-Laplacian operator. Moreover, we have demonstrated that this problem is stable in the framework of Ulam–Hyers stability. Our findings enhance the theoretical understanding of fractional differential equations and have potential applications in various scientific and engineering fields. In addition, an illustrative example is provided to support the key insights derived from this research. Full article

In this work, we describe the q-analogue of a multiplier–Ruscheweyh operator of a specific family of linear operators Iq,ρs(ν,τ), and we obtain findings related to geometric function theory (GFT) by utilizing approaches established through subordination and knowledge of q-calculus operators. By using this operator, we develop generalized classes of quasi-convex and close-to-convex functions in this paper. Additionally, the classes Kq,ρs(ν,τ)φ, Qq,ρs(ν,τ)φ are introduced. The invariance of these recently formed classes under the q-Bernardi integral operator is investigated, along with a number of intriguing inclusion relationships between them. The normalized analytic function ΦN(z)=1+zz33, which connects the open unit disk onto a bounded domain within the right half of a nephroid-shaped region, is associated with the bounded turning of functions denoted by Rn. It calculates the sharp coefficient inequalities, which include the upper bound of the third Hankel determinant and Logarithmic coefficients related to the functions of the ΦN(z) class. In this article, we define a new class of noncommuting self mappings known as the S-operator pair. Also, we provide the existence and uniqueness of common fixed point results involving the S-operator pair satisfying the (F,φ,ψ,Z)-contractive condition in m-metric spaces, which unifies and generalizes most of the existing relevant fixed point theorems. Furthermore, the variables in the m-metric space are symmetric, which is significant for solving nonlinear problems in operator theory. In addition, examples are provided in order to illustrate the concepts and results presented herein. It has been demonstrated that the results can be applied to prove the existence of a solution to a system of integral equations, a nonlinear fractional differential equation and an ordinary differential equation for damped forced oscillations. Also, in the end, the satellite web coupling problem is solved. Full article

U-statistics are fundamental in modeling statistical measures that involve responses from multiple subjects. They generalize the concept of the empirical mean of a random variable X to include summations over each m-tuple of distinct observations of X. W. Stute introduced conditional U-statistics, extending the Nadaraya–Watson estimates for regression functions. Stute demonstrated their strong pointwise consistency with the conditional expectation r(m)(φ,t), defined as E[φ(Y1,,Ym)|(X1,,Xm)=t] for tXm. This paper focuses on estimating functional single index (FSI) conditional U-processes for regular time series data. We propose a novel, automatic, and location-adaptive procedure for estimating these processes based on k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) principles. Our asymptotic analysis includes data-driven neighbor selection, making the method highly practical. The local nature of the kNN approach improves predictive power compared to traditional kernel estimates. Additionally, we establish new uniform results in bandwidth selection for kernel estimates in FSI conditional U-processes, including almost complete convergence rates and weak convergence under general conditions. These results apply to both bounded and unbounded function classes, satisfying certain moment conditions, and are proven under standard Vapnik–Chervonenkis structural conditions and mild model assumptions. Furthermore, we demonstrate uniform consistency for the nonparametric inverse probability of censoring weighted (I.P.C.W.) estimators of the regression function under random censorship. This result is independently valuable and has potential applications in areas such as set-indexed conditional U-statistics, the Kendall rank correlation coefficient, and discrimination problems. We study fixed-point theorems of contractive mappings in b-metric space, cone b-metric space, and the newly introduced extended b-metric space. To generalize an existence and uniqueness result for the so-called Φs functions in the b-metric space to the extended b-metric space and the cone b-metric space, we introduce the class of ΦM functions and apply the Hölder continuous condition in the extended b-metric space. The obtained results are applied to prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions and positive solutions for nonlinear integral equations and fractional boundary value problems. Examples and numerical simulation are given to illustrate the applications. Full article

The roadway project of broken rock mass in the Shilu Iron Deposit was taken as the research object to discuss the stability control of the surrounding rocks using support patterns with broken rock mass. The grade evaluation of rock mass quality was conducted based on the geomechanical classification of rock mass. The roadway support effect in broken rock mass was calculated. Then, the section convergence characteristics of roadway surrounding rocks were analyzed under the current support scheme using displacement monitoring technology. The conclusions were described as follows: (1) The surrounding rock integrity of the No.6 and No.7 transportation roadways in the middle section of the Baoxiu mining area (Level 120) is poor. Based on geological survey data and rock mass classification, the rock mass quality in this region has been rated as Class IV. The joint support pattern of the anchor net and shotcrete was used according to the support guidelines. (2) The parameters for the support structure within Shilu Iron Deposit were designed, according to the requirements, as follows: the use of Portland cement; a shotcrete thickness of 55 mm; resin bolts with a minimum outer diameter of φ 20 mm and a length of 2200 mm; and row and column spacings of 1100 mm each. Meanwhile, a rectangular metal mesh of 80 × 80 mm was used as the anchor mesh. (3) The cross-section displacement reached 20 mm within a week using the support pattern according to displacement monitoring results of the on-site roadway section. Moreover, the convergence deformation rate significantly changed. However, the rate rapidly decreased after the first week, and the cross-section showed no further deformation after one month. The support pattern could control the displacement of surrounding rocks, which was verified by the monitoring results. Full article

We report herein that bis(tricyclic) aromatic enes (BAEs) consisting of 6-6-6-membered frameworks such as acridine, xanthene, thioxanthene, and thioxanthene-S,S-dioxide act as a new class of organic luminophores that exhibit blue-to-green fluorescence in the solid state and in polymer film with good to excellent quantum yields. The BAEs were prepared by the palladium-catalyzed double cross-coupling reaction of phenazastannines or 10,10-dimethyl-10H-phenothiastannin with 9-(dibromomethylene)xanthene, 9-(dibromomethylene)thioxanthene, or 9-(dibromomethylene)-9H-thioxanthene-10,10-dioxide. Microcrystals or powder samples of the BAEs exhibited brilliant fluorescence with good to high quantum yields (Φ = 0.45–0.88). Furthermore, more efficient emission of blue-to-green light (Φ = 0.59–0.91) was observed for the BAEs dispersed in the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the photo-absorption of the (thio)xanthene moiety-containing BAEs proceeds via π–π* transitions, whereas the optical excitation of 10,10-dioxido-9H-thioxanthene moiety-containing BAEs involves an intramolecular charge transfer from the acridine/thioxanthene part to the electron-accepting 10,10-dioxido-9H-thioxanthene moiety. In this study, a model-free  PIφ-sliding mode control ( PIφ-SMC) methodology is proposed to synchronize a specific class of chaotic fractional-order memristive neural network systems (FOMNNSs) with delays and input saturation. The fractional-order Lyapunov stability theory is used to design a two-level  PIφ-SMC which can effectively manage the inherent chaotic behavior of delayed FOMNNSs and achieve finite-time synchronization. At the outset, an initial sliding surface is introduced. Subsequently, a robust  PIφ-sliding surface is designed as a second sliding surface, based on proportional–integral (PI) rules. The finite-time asymptotic stability of both surfaces is demonstrated. The final step involves the design of a dynamic-free control law that is robust against system uncertainties, input saturations, and delays. The independence of control rules from the functions of the system is accomplished through the application of the norm-boundedness property inherent in chaotic system states. The soft actor-critic (SAC) algorithm based deep Q-Learning is utilized to optimally adjust the coefficients embedded in the two-level  PIφ-SMC controller’s structure. By maximizing a reward signal, the optimal policy is found by the deep neural network of the SAC agent. This approach ensures that the sliding motion meets the reachability condition within a finite time. The validity of the proposed protocol is subsequently demonstrated through extensive simulation results and two numerical examples. Full article

In this article, we aim to construct functions fA0 for which (i) f(D)Pl(D)ΦNe(D) (ii) f(D)Pl(D), but f(D)ΦNe(D) (iii) f(D)ΦNe(D), but f(D)Pl(D). We validate the results graphically and analytically. To prove the results analytically, we use the concept of subordination. In this process, we establish the connection lemniscate (and nephroid) domain and functions, including gα(z):=1+αz2, |α|1, the polynomial gα,β(z):=1+αz+βz3, α,βR, as well as Lerch’s transcendent function, Incomplete gamma function, Bessel and Modified Bessel functions, and confluent and generalized hypergeometric functions.
