This paper addresses the design of nonfragile state estimators for memristor-based fractional-order neural networks that are subject to stochastic cyber-attacks and hybrid time delays. To mitigate the issue of limited bandwidth during signal transmission, quantitative processing is introduced to reduce network burden and prevent signal blocking. In real network environments, the outputs may be compromised by cyber-attacks, which can disrupt data transmission systems. To better reflect the actual conditions of fractional-order neural networks, a Bernoulli variable is utilized to describe the statistical properties. Additionally, novel conditions are presented to ensure the stochastic asymptotic stability of the augmented error system through a new fractional-order free-matrix-based integral inequality. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed estimation methods is demonstrated through two numerical simulations. Full article

Gold is a vital strategic resource for many countries. The Laozhaiwan area is an important gold resource base in Yunnan Province and even nationwide. Conducting mineral resource exploration in this region to increase gold reserves is of great significance. The application of remote sensing technology in mineral resource exploration is a green and efficient technical approach, which has been widely utilized in the field of mineral resource prospecting. This study selects the Laozhaiwan area in the southeastern part of Yunnan Province as the research region. Linear and ring structures were extracted using the remote sensing visual interpretation method based on Sentinel-2A multispectral data. Additionally, Sentinel-2A, ASTER, and ZY1-02D data were used to extract iron-stained, hydroxyl, silicification, and limonite alteration information through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) methods. Additionally, 50 linear structures and 12 ring structures were extracted. A comprehensive analysis of geological data reveals that alteration minerals and linear-ring structures are closely related to mineralization, providing valuable indicators for mineral resource exploration. By comprehensively analyzing the alteration information and remote sensing interpretation results of the linear-ring structures, two prospective areas for mineral exploration were delineated. Field investigations and petrographic studies confirmed the reliability of remote sensing technology in mineral exploration. The mineral exploration method based on multi-source remote sensing technology can clearly reflect various alteration information and linear-ring structural data. It provides remote sensing geological insights for geological survey work and has great application potential in the field of mineral resource exploration. Full article

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism underlying the synergistic antimicrobial effect of ferulic acid (FA) and ε-polylysine hydrochloride (PL) on Shewanella putrefaciens (S. putrefaciens) and their application on crayfish (Procambarus clarkii). The treatment with FA and PL exhibited a strong synergistic inhibitory effect against S. putrefaciens. The combination of 1/4 Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) FA and 1/4 MIC PL was the most effective, damaging the cell structure and inhibiting the growth of S. putrefaciens. Plasma-activated water (PAW) can induce microbial inactivation through physical action. In addition, treatments with FA, PL, PAW, PAW-FA, PAW-PL, and PAW + PL-FA substantially decreased total viable counts (TVCs), total volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N), the thiobarbituric acid value (TBA), and the juice loss rate of crayfish, with FA-PL showing the best effect. This study confirmed the antimicrobial efficacy of PL, FA, and PAW, indicating their potential as effective preservatives for controlling spoilage in freshwater crustaceans. Full article

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of built environment and intrapersonal factors with leisure-time physical activity (LTPA), and the possible moderating effect of intrapersonal factors on the association between the built environment and LTPA. Methods: A total of 514 older people in the village of Fuwen were included in this study. Data on LTPA, intrapersonal factors (social, fitness, medical, benefits/challenges, recognition), and the built environment (traffic safety, street connectivity, walking facilities, access to services, crime safety, aesthetics, residential density, land use mix diversity) were collected. Multivariate linear regression analysis with the “enter” method was conducted to analyze the association of perceived scores of built environment and intrapersonal factors with LTPA. Results: Among the intrapersonal factors, fitness was positively related to LTPA (p = 0.012). Among the built environment factors, traffic safety (p = 0.02) and crime safety (p = 0.047) were positively related to LTPA, while walking facilities was negatively associated with LTPA (p = 0.007). Additionally, fitness had a significant moderating effect on the association between walking facilities and LTPA (p = 0.025). Conclusions: Older people with higher fitness requirements and better perceived traffic safety and crime safety tend to engage in greater levels of LTPA. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, particularly in designing ecologically livable villages that promote physical activity among older populations. Full article

Toxoplasma gondii is a globally significant zoonotic pathogen responsible for severe parasitic diseases in humans and animals. This study aimed to design, develop, and evaluate a novel immunochromatographic test (ICT) using a recombinant MIC2-MIC3 fusion protein (rMIC2-MIC3) for detecting specific antibodies against T. gondii. The ICT demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, capable of detecting T. gondii-specific antibodies in sera diluted up to 1:8. Specificity evaluation confirmed no cross-reactivity with antibodies against other parasites, such as Neospora caninum, Cryptosporidium suis, Eimeria tenella, and Sarcocystis tenella. Stability tests revealed the test strips maintained full functionality after 12 weeks of storage at 24 °C. The coincidence rate of the colloidal gold test strips prepared in this study with a commercial ELISA kit was 94.59%. Comparisons with advanced serodiagnostic tools, such as chimeric antigen-based ELISAs and recombinant protein diagnostics, further highlighted its robustness and applicability. These findings underscore the potential of the rMIC2-MIC3-based ICT as a reliable, economical, and accessible diagnostic tool for toxoplasmosis in veterinary and human medicine. Full article

The utilization of form-stable phase change materials (PCMs) represents a reliable technology for achieving energy conversion. In this study, starch was impregnated into the layers of expanded vermiculite (EVM) and subsequently carbonized at high temperatures to produce in situ carbon layers modified materials (EVMC), which enhance heat storage efficiency. The EVMC, characterized by its carbon network, acted as encapsulated material, leading to the development of paraffin (P)/EVCM-based shape-stable composite PCM (EVMCP). The latent heat of the EVMCP was measured at 179 J/g, surpassing that of EVMP at 144.8 J/g. This finding suggested that in situ porous carbon significantly improves the heat storage ability. Furthermore, non-isothermal crystallization curves indicated that EVMC markedly accelerated the nucleation and simultaneously restricted the non-isothermal crystal growth. Full article

Maize lodging is a prevalent stress that can significantly diminish corn yield and quality. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) remote sensing is a practical means to quickly obtain lodging information at field scale, such as area, severity, and distribution. However, existing studies primarily use machine learning (ML) methods to qualitatively analyze maize lodging (lodging and non-lodging) or estimate the maize lodging percentage, while there is less research using deep learning (DL) to quantitatively estimate maize lodging parameters (type, severity, and direction). This study aims to introduce advanced DL algorithms into the maize lodging classification task using UAV-multispectral images and investigate the advantages of DL compared with traditional ML methods. This study collected a UAV-multispectral dataset containing non-lodging maize and lodging maize with different lodging types, severities, and directions. Additionally, 22 vegetation indices (VIs) were extracted from multispectral data, followed by spatial aggregation and image cropping. Five ML classifiers and three DL models were trained to classify the maize lodging parameters. Finally, we compared the performance of ML and DL models in evaluating maize lodging parameters. The results indicate that the Random Forest (RF) model outperforms the other four ML algorithms, achieving an overall accuracy (OA) of 89.29% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.8852. However, the maize lodging classification performance of DL models is significantly better than that of ML methods. Specifically, Swin-T performs better than ResNet-50 and ConvNeXt-T, with an OA reaching 96.02% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.9574. This can be attributed to the fact that Swin-T can more effectively extract detailed information that accurately characterizes maize lodging traits from UAV-multispectral data. This study demonstrates that combining DL with UAV-multispectral data enables a more comprehensive understanding of maize lodging type, severity, and direction, which is essential for post-disaster rescue operations and agricultural insurance claims. This paper reviews the field of cascaded metasurfaces, which are advanced optical devices formed by stacking or serially arranging multiple metasurface layers. These structures leverage near-field and far-field electromagnetic (EM) coupling mechanisms to enhance functionalities beyond single-layer metasurfaces. This review comprehensively discusses the physical principles, design methodologies, and applications of cascaded metasurfaces, focusing on both static and dynamic configurations. Near-field-coupled structures create new resonant modes through strong EM interactions, allowing for efficient control of light properties like phase, polarization, and wave propagation. Far-field coupling, achieved through greater interlayer spacing, enables traditional optical methods for design, expanding applications to aberration correction, spectrometers, and retroreflectors. Dynamic configurations include tunable devices that adjust their optical characteristics through mechanical motion, making them valuable for applications in beam steering, varifocal lenses, and holography. This paper concludes with insights into the potential of cascaded metasurfaces to create multifunctional, compact optical systems, setting the stage for future innovations in miniaturized and integrated optical devices. Background/Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effects of 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) on islet morphology, cell phenotype and function, and to explore possible mechanisms of β cell regeneration. Methods: The Type 1 diabetes (T1D) model was induced by continuous dose injection of streptozotocin (STZ), and mice were treated with 4-MU for 3 weeks. Plasma insulin level, islet cell phenotype and immune infiltration were determined by IPGTT, ELISA, HE and immunofluorescence. The Ins2Cre/+/Rosa26-eGFP transgenic mice model was used to detect β identity change. Primary rodent islets were incubated with 4-MU or vehicle in the presence or absence of STZ, AO/PI staining, and a scanning electron microscope (SEM), PCR and ELISA were used to evaluated islet viability, islet morphology, the specific markers of islet β cells and insulin secretion. Results: Treatment with 4-MU significantly decreased blood glucose and increased plasma insulin levels in STZ-induced diabetes. The plasma insulin level in the STZ group was 7.211 ± 2.602 ng/mL, which was significantly lower than the control group level (26.94 ± 4.300 ng/mL, p < 0.001). In contrast, the plasma insulin level in the STZ + 4-MU group was 22.29 ± 7.791 ng/mL, which was significantly higher than the STZ group (p < 0.05). The 4-MU treatment increased islet and β cells numbers and decreased α cell numbers in STZ-induced diabetes. Conclusions: Islet inflammation as indicated by insulin and CD3 was caused by infiltrates, and the β cell proliferation as indicated by insulin and Ki67 was boosted by 4-MU. β cell dedifferentiation was inhibited by 4-MU as assessed by insulin and glucagon double-positive cells and confirmed by Ins2Cre/+/Rosa26-eGFP mice. In cultured primary rodent islets, 4-MU restored islet viability, protected islet morphology, inhibited β-cell dedifferentiation, and promoted insulin secretion. The benefits of 4-MU in T1D have been proved to be associated with β cells self-replication, dedifferentiation inhibition and immune progression suppression, which help to maintain β cell mass. It is inevitable for polyphenols and polysaccharides to interact during food preparation. Modifications in microstructure can lead to changes in the physical and chemical properties of food systems, which in turn may influence the nutritional characteristics and functional activities of the food. Recent studies have shown that, in addition to traditional Chinese medicine compounds, certain natural polysaccharides and polyphenols exhibit significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These compounds are also associated with beneficial therapeutic effects for the prevention and treatment of acute lung injury. The objective of this study was to examine the synergistic antioxidant effects of chlorogenic acid (CA) and Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) in various ratios, along with their combined antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on LPS-induced inflammation in rat alveolar macrophages. Using the Combination Index (CI), which quantifies the synergistic or antagonistic effect of two substances, all four combinations showed synergistic antioxidant properties over a range of concentrations by in vitro antioxidant property experiments. However, based on comparing them, the four group ratios exhibited the highest antioxidant activity of the infusion at CA:LBP = 1:7, indicating synergistic interactions (CI < 1). In addition, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of the CA-LBP complex were observed to alleviate cellular inflammatory injury by reducing LPS-induced nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species production and inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors such as TNF-α and IL-6. Drought tolerance varies among different peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars. Here, drought responses of two cultivars, Huayu 22 (HY22) with drought tolerance and Fuhua 18 (FH18) with drought sensitivity, were compared at the morphological, physiological, biochemical, photosynthetic, and transcriptional levels. Drought stress caused wilting and curling of leaves, bending of stems, and water loss in both cultivars. There was an increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) content under prolonged drought stress, more so in FH18. But the levels of reactive oxygen species (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation were low in HY22. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and glutathione reductase (GR) were considerably elevated, corresponding with rapid increases in the accumulation of soluble proteins, soluble sugars, and proline. Transcriptional sequencing showed gene expression varied seriously in HY22, which was upregulated in both stems of two cultivars, though downregulation was less pronounced in HY22. KEGG pathway analysis revealed significant enrichment in four leaf and six stem pathways. Additionally, core genes relating to photosynthesis, carbon fixation, proline synthesis, and sucrose and starch synthesis pathways were identified by correlation analysis. Those gene expressions were variously upregulated in stems of two cultivars, especially in HY22, giving a novel view of the shoot as a whole participating in stress response. Full article

This study aimed to investigate the effect of water-based nanolubricants containing varying concentrations (1.0–9.0 wt.%) of TiO2 nanoparticles on the friction and wear of titanium foil surfaces. Water-based nanolubricants containing TiO2 nanoparticles of varying concentrations were prepared and applied in friction and wear experiments and micro-rolling experiments to evaluate their performance regarding friction and wear properties. The findings indicated that the best results were achieved with a 3.0 wt.% TiO2 nano-additive lubricant that significantly improved the tribological properties, with reductions in the COF and wear of 82.9% and 42.7%, respectively, compared to the dry conditions without any lubricant. In addition, nanolubricants contribute to a reduction in rolling forces and an improvement in the surface quality of titanium foils after rolling. In conclusion, nanolubricants exhibit superior lubricating properties compared to conventional O/W lubricants, which is attributed to the combined effect of the rolling effect, polishing effect, mending effect and tribo-film effect of the nanoparticles. The blind box market is fast-growing, from toys, baseball cards, and vibrant second-hand products to the recent growing tourism market, becoming the latest trend sweeping through China, not only in offline retailing but also online businesses and e-commerce. For young consumers, the element of mystery is a big part of the fun that not everyone can obtain the most special and desirable products. The present research aims to elucidate how travel blind boxes attract young consumers in terms of their psychological connections to travel destinations. In particular, building upon psychological distance theory, this study examines the relationship between perceived similarities between travel destinations and hometowns and the attraction of travel blind boxes. Contributing to the existing literature that mainly describes the phenomenon of the blind box craze but often fails to identify its underlying mechanisms, the present study advances our understanding of such trendy marketing practices by investigating the mediating role of the “aha moment” and the boundary conditions of electronic word-of-mouth recommendations and price sensitivity. Objective: This study explores the association of Tai Chi and square dance with cognitive function and compares the effects of the two fitness programs on cognitive function in Chinese older adults. Methods: A total of 1732 older people (aged 60 years and over) met the inclusion criteria from the 2018 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. Based on the frequency of participating in Tai Chi and square dance, older adults were divided into three groups: a Tai Chi group (n = 234), a square dance group (n = 345), and a control group (n = 1153). Cognitive function was measured using a modified Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Participation in Tai Chi or square dance was investigated by asking the subjects to report how often they participated in the fitness programs. Results: Older adults in both the Tai Chi group and the square dance group had higher scores in all MMSE items, including orientation, registration, attention and calculation, recall, and language, compared to those in the control group. But there were no significant differences in any MMSE items between the Tai Chi group and the square dance group. Multiple regression analysis showed that participating in Tai Chi or square dance, age, educational level, and sex can predict cognitive function in older people. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that participating in Tai Chi and square dance are associated with better cognitive function, and Tai Chi and square dance have similar effects on cognitive function in the Chinese older population. Due to its high power-to-weight ratio, low weight, and silent operation, shape memory alloy (SMA) is widely used as a muscle-like soft actuator in intelligent bionic robot systems. However, hysteresis nonlinearity and multi-valued mapping behavior can severely impact trajectory tracking accuracy. This paper proposes an adaptive nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode control (ANFTSMC) scheme aimed at enhancing position tracking performance in SMA-actuated systems by addressing hysteresis nonlinearity, uncertain dynamics, and external disturbances. Firstly, a simplified third-order actuator model is developed and a variable gain extended state observer (VGESO) is employed to estimate unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances within finite time. Secondly, a novel nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode control (NFTSMC) law is designed to overcome singularity issues, reduce chattering, and guarantee finite-time convergence of the system states. Finally, the ANFTSMC scheme, integrating NFTSMC with VGESO, is proposed to achieve precise position tracking for the prosthetic hand. The convergence of the closed-loop control system is validated using Lyapunov’s stability theory. Experimental results demonstrate that the external pulse disturbance error of ANFTSMC is 8.19°, compared to 19.21° for the comparative method. Furthermore, the maximum absolute error for ANFTSMC is 0.63°, whereas the comparative method shows a maximum absolute error of 1.03°. These results underscore the superior performance of the proposed ANFTSMC algorithm. Full article
