MDPI Publishes the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics (JGG) on Behalf of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (SIGG)
We are pleased to announce that from Volume 74, 2026, the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics (JGG) is being published by MDPI as a quarterly, peer-reviewed open access journal.
The Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics is the official journal of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (Società Italiana di Gerontologia e Geriatrica, SIGG). Founded in 1953 as “Giornale di Gerontologia”, the journal has evolved alongside the fields of gerontology and geriatrics, serving as a leading platform for research, clinical experience, and thought leadership on aging, with a particular focus on the Italian and Mediterranean contexts.
"This collaboration marks an important step in further expanding the journal's global visibility, accessibility, and scientific impact," stated Professor Gianluigi Vendemiale, Editor-in-Chief of JGG. "Our ambition is for JGG to become an even more vibrant, global platform for innovation in aging research—connecting science, practice, and policy."
The transition represents a continued publication of Volume 74 as a quarterly, peer-reviewed and open access journal. MDPI and SIGG are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor, peer review, and editorial transparency while benefitting from MDPI's technical, editorial, and operational expertise. We are excited to build on the journal's legacy and to serve its community with renewed publishing needs and goals.
We warmly invite researchers, clinicians, and policy experts worldwide engaged in aging research to join this new chapter, whether as authors, reviewers, or readers, in our shared mission to advance knowledge and promote dignity in aging.
