Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, titled “Hydrology and Hydrochemistry in Cold and Arid Regions”, will present recent advances that improve our understanding of water cycle processes and hydrochemical evolution in environments characterized by cold and arid regions. Original research is sought on topics including lake evolution, groundwater–surface water interactions, lake and river water balance, hydrogeochemical processes, hydrothermal systems, cryospheric hydrology, and the impacts of permafrost degradation, glacier retreat, and climate change on regional water resources. Submissions that integrate hydrochemical and hydrological data with modeling approaches, or that provide new insights into lake–groundwater exchange, are particularly welcome. Case studies addressing endorheic basins, water quality evolution, and hydrochemical responses to environmental change are also encouraged. Conceptual and numerical models that enhance prediction and management of water resources in cold and arid regions are of great interest. This Special Issue will highlight the essential role of hydrochemistry in advancing hydrological research and sustainable water management in vulnerable cold and arid regions. Researchers are invited to contribute manuscripts that expand knowledge in this interdisciplinary field.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
