Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue comprises general papers and papers to be presented at the 10th International Electronic Conference on Water Science (ECWS-10), which will be held from 24 to 27 November 2026. In recent years, nine International Electronic Conferences on Water Sciences (ECWS-1, ECWS-2, ECWS-3, ECWS-4, ECWS-5, ECWS-6, ECWS-7, ECWS-8 and ECWS-9) have addressed a variety of important water-related issues. The tenth conference aims to explore and deliberate on the latest advancements in water sciences within a variable and evolving environment. ECWS-10 will be a forum to explore and discuss the following key issues: adaptive water resource management; the enhancement of water security for humans, their economic activities and the environment and the formulation of new governance structures for water resource management and development. The conference intends to assist in formulating innovative methodologies, producing recommendations for best practices and building institutions that can meet them.
We invite researchers from academic institutions, as well as water industry practitioners, to share their original research findings, novel ideas, scientific concepts and new technologies and experiences. The Special Issue accepts contributions/papers in a wide range of ECWS-10 topics, including the following:
- Hydrological/Hydraulic Processes and Modelling;
- Urban Water Modelling and Management;
- Rivers and Lakes—Water Quality, Nutrient Enrichment and Pollutant Transport;
- Water Resources Management, Policy and Governance;
- Extreme Hydrometeorological Events: Sources, Mitigation and Adaptation;
- Ecohydrological Approaches and Ecosystems Conservancy—Water–Food–Energy Ecosystem Nexus;
- Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies in Water Sciences;
- Wastewater Treatment and Reuse;
- Agricultural Water Systems;
- Groundwater Systems Modelling, Analysis and Vulnerability—Quantity and Quality Issues.
The contributions will not only enhance the current Special Issue and conference but also lay a solid foundation for the future success of subsequent editions and conveyance of current knowledge on the topics.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
