Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Viruses invites the submission of original research and review articles to this Special Issue, covering the use of HIV genetic sequences in the analyses of HIV transmission patterns, transmission of drug resistance, and related research. Submitted articles can cover any range of diversity, from local outbreaks to long-term trends in infection rates. Comparison of methods (Cluster-Picker, HIV-Trace, Bayesian skyline plots, etc.) to each other and/or to historical epidemiological reports is encouraged. Theoretical exploration of the effects of intrasubtype recombination on genetic distances and thus the impact on downstream calculations, such as skyline plots, is welcome. Discussion of the need for data vs patient confidentiality is encouraged. Discussion or research on how to distinguish between transmitted drug resistance and de novo acquisition of drug resistance, and discussion of how transmitted drug resistance should influence primary treatment protocol choices, are welcome.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Viruses is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
