Immunology and pathology research in aquaculture plays a critical role in understanding the health dynamics of aquatic species, particularly in response to infections, diseases, and environmental stressors. This research focuses on the immune systems of fish, shellfish, and other farmed aquatic animals, exploring both innate and adaptive immune responses. The aim is to identify effective methods for preventing and controlling diseases while reducing the reliance on antibiotics, which is vital for maintaining sustainability in the industry. Pathology research delves into the identification, classification, and impact of various pathogens—including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites—that affect aquaculture species. Through advancements in these fields, the aquaculture industry can develop more efficient disease management strategies, improve the health and productivity of farmed animals, and contribute to the overall sustainability and biosecurity of aquaculture practices. Ultimately, this research is fundamental for enhancing disease resistance and ensuring the long-term success of aquaculture systems worldwide.
This Special Issue aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration in immunology, pathology, and aquaculture, focusing on disease management, immune responses, and sustainable practices. We welcome original research and review articles to advance aquaculture health and productivity through innovative approaches and cross-disciplinary insights.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Veterinary Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
