Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit papers to the upcoming Tourism and Hospitality Special Issue titled “The Technology–Sustainability Interface”.

Responsible tourism has been a collective and pluralist conversation, and in the past decade, sustainability and digitalization through technology (e.g., digital platforms), have become two global issues of our time. As the global community strives to combat climate change, this Special Issue aims to spark lively academic debate on the role of digital technology as a key enabler of the green transition and reaching the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The Special Issue calls for tourism and hospitality research that offers novel perspectives to the so-called twin transition, whereby papers may address one or more of the interfaces between technology and the dimensions of sustainability, such as the social environmental, cultural, economic, political, legal, or ethical impacts of the twin transition.

Both empirical and conceptual research articles as well as reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Responsible tourism;
  • Technology for sustainability;
  • Designing at the interface of technology and sustainability;
  • Digital platforms;
  • Intelligent automation;
  • Experiences and the technology–sustainability interface.

We look forward to welcoming your contributions.
