Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid digitization of critical infrastructures, financial systems, healthcare services, and public-sector operations has fundamentally reshaped global risk landscapes. Cloud computing, artificial intelligence, mobile technologies, and cross-border digital platforms now form the backbone of modern service delivery, yet they simultaneously introduce unprecedented cyber, privacy, governance, and resilience challenges, often requiring symmetrical alignment and balance across technological, organizational, and societal dimensions. This Special Issue focuses on advancing interdisciplinary research that explores how emerging technologies can be securely, ethically, and sustainably integrated into socio-technical systems across developed and developing economies. With increasing dependence on cloud-based enterprise systems, digital payment infrastructures, telemedicine platforms, and AI-driven decision support tools, organizations are facing heightened exposure to cybercrime, data breaches, regulatory non-compliance, and operational disruptions. These challenges are particularly acute in developing economies, where infrastructural gaps, skills shortages, and evolving regulatory frameworks complicate secure digital transformation and disrupt the symmetry between technological advancement, governance mechanisms, and societal trust. This Special Issue invites original empirical studies, conceptual frameworks, and case-based analyses that address cybersecurity governance, digital forensics, privacy engineering, cloud and AI security, cyber-enabled fraud, regulatory compliance, and digital resilience. We especially welcome research that proposes practical, scalable, and policy-relevant solutions that enhance trust, transparency, and security in global digital ecosystems, while maintaining balanced and symmetrical interactions among technological systems, human actors, and institutional structures. By bringing together contributions from academia, industry, and policy communities, this Special Issue aims to advance knowledge that directly informs organizational strategy, regulatory development, and secure digital innovation worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs).
