Dear Colleagues,
Magnetism and superconductivity are among the most studied phenomena in the theory of correlated electronic systems and simultaneously are the basis for numerous important materials of modern technology. For example, permanent and soft magnets are crucial for efficient electrical energy production and transformation, while superconductors can be applied for almost lossless electrical power transmission and the generation of strong magnetic fields. The search for new promising magnetic and superconducting materials has significantly shaped the research landscape during the last century, stimulating the development of novel and more powerful theoretical and experimental methods.
More recently, topologically non-trivial and low-dimensional magnets with interesting symmetry properties and possible applications in nanoscale spintronics devices, as well as high-temperature superconductors based on both conventional and unconventional coupling mechanisms, have been attracting a lot of attention. Although magnetism and superconductivity are, in most cases, mutually exclusive phenomena, that are related to the different symmetry of the electronic wave function in each case, there are a few system classes showing the coexistence or competition between the two phenomena. Accurate description and understanding of the underlying physical mechanisms in the aforementioned systems present a challenge.
The goal of the present Special Issue is to highlight recent advances in research on magnetic and superconducting materials, that are interesting from the fundamental and practical points of view. Both original research and review articles are invited.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
