Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to devote the proposed Special Issue to the problem of sustainable development explained from a system perspective. The authors of individual parts of the study examine the state of the system, its dynamics and directions of change relevant to the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in various areas of political and social life at the state and nonstate level. By taking into account such areas as the institutional and legal system (international and state structures), development of urban spaces, electoral systems of EU countries, and local government systems and international cooperation in selected areas, we want to show that the challenges of sustainable development are heterogeneous and complex, and thus, limiting them to the purely environmental aspect of the analysis is too restrictive and does not allow their comprehensive understanding and implementation. In an era of increasing complexity, thinking in terms of sustainable development should exceed its conventional sense and use the available wealth of resources and interpretive sources. The perspective of the system both provides a dynamic approach to the issue and allows the use of a structured methodological workshop in the research process.
All articles shall be based on a homogeneous approach to the concept of a system, treated in a dynamic way as a process of shaping conditions for the functioning of diverse sociopolitical and cultural spaces.
