Dear Colleagues,
Ports are critical hubs in global maritime logistics and play an essential role in supporting sustainable economic growth. However, increasing environmental regulations, decarbonization targets, digital transformation, and supply chain disruptions have created new challenges for achieving both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, big data analytics, and intelligent decision-support systems, offer significant opportunities to improve port operations, environmental performance, safety, and resource efficiency. This Special Issue aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for research on sustainable port operations and environmental performance in maritime logistics. It welcomes theoretical, methodological, and empirical studies that advance sustainable port management through technological innovation, environmental assessment, operational optimization, and evidence-based policy development, consistent with the scope of Sustainability. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, green and smart ports, port decarbonization, environmental performance assessment, AI and digital technologies, port safety and resilience, energy efficiency, sustainable maritime logistics, coastal ferry systems, and decision-support models. By integrating operational, environmental, and technological perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to promote innovative solutions that support the transition toward greener, smarter, safer, and more resilient port and maritime logistics systems. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
