Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Digital technologies are increasingly entering the realm of architectural heritage. Their applications are diverse, ranging from management, monitoring and conservation to digital reconstructions and the creation of immersive environments that enable users to experience the past. These approaches serve many complimentary objectives, varying from documentation, dissemination, public engagement and research.
The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight cutting edge research on recent advances in digital technologies applied to architectural heritage and its contribution to preserve the built environment sustainability.
Submissions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Digital reconstructions: digital twins, models as databases, challenges and innovations;
- Immersive environments: experiences of the past and increased accessibility to heritage sites;
- VR and AVR: new ways to experience and learn about built heritage;
- Digital Storytelling: how to narrate heritage through stories;
- AI applications: automation, machine learning and deep learning;
- Hybrid workflows to document, disseminate and research.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
