Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Global agricultural production is facing a series of new and growing challenges due to climate change, the current global economic situation and the increasing global population that require innovative solutions in order to continue to ensure food supply, agricultural profitability and the conservation of natural resources. Agricultural systems need new models to maintain good production levels while respecting the environment. In this respect, new approaches that limit the use of external and/or synthetic inputs, the application of nature-based solutions and the adoption of circular production models seem to be the appropriate strategies for achieving this goal. The implementation of these techniques is crucial for a sustainable food supply for future generations according with 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by United Nations. Information about new techniques that would move agriculture away from current conventional management is not yet fully comprehensive and a process of growth at different levels of knowledge, from the most basic to the most applied, is still needed.

The aim of this Special Issue is to gather studies that can promote the sustainability of agricultural production cultivated for food production. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but not limited to, the following: sustainable crop production; circular economy on crop production, use of innovative fertilizer, application of carbon farming practices, reuse of organic matrices for plant management, crop management to reduce soil GHGs emissions, application of techniques to improve resilience to climate change, natural based solution for crop protection. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers).
