Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The world is inching closer to the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs were unveiled in 2015 by the UN, and so far, less than 25% are on track to being achieved. The challenges hampering the successful execution of SDGs are manyfold, ranging from the cost of living and climate crises, and social and civil unrest, to rising carbon emissions. A green economy and sustainable infrastructure have attained enviable positions as solutions toward the attainment of SDGs. A green economy preserves environmental resources and ecological balance together with societal progress, economic prosperity, and human civilization. This concept is largely characterized by low-to-zero carbon emissions, socially responsible investments, and green economic growth practices. It can be viewed from different lenses, including broad-dimension policies, innovations, and economic and social models. Sustainable infrastructure solutions are targeted at the planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure projects that boost the economic, social, and environmental benefits of a green economy. Sustainable infrastructure utilizes smart technologies to improve existing infrastructures, adopt green project management practices, and include circular economy models to manage construction waste and demolition. The objective of this Special Issue is to present green economy and sustainable infrastructure solutions that are relevant to the achievement of SDGs.

Both original research articles and reviews are welcome.
