Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue explores innovative approaches towards a blue economy that harmonize economic development with marine ecosystem conservation and coastal development. As coastal regions face unprecedented pressures from climate change, population growth, and resource exploitation, sustainable blue economy strategies emerge as financial pathways for environmentally friendly construction, achieving environmental resilience while supporting marine communities. The collection will examine cutting-edge research on marine spatial planning, sustainable aquaculture, coastal tourism management, “green” marine construction, and ecosystem-based adaptation measures. Contributions may include perspectives on policy frameworks, technological innovations, and community-based initiatives that promote both ecological integrity and economic prosperity. Articles may span from theoretical concepts and experimental designs, via case studies, to field tests and specific solutions. This issue aims to expand our understanding of how economic implementation can safeguard marine biodiversity, enhance coastal resilience, and create sustainable livelihoods for ocean-dependent communities worldwide.
